A Matter of Life and Death (Patreon)
Content
In a world where disease and war ravaged the land, there lived a young water sorceress named Rhea.
Rhea had grown up on the shores of a vast ocean, where the waves were her friends and the tides were her playthings. Rhea would spend hours playing in the ocean, diving beneath the waves and exploring the hidden depths. She loved the way that the water flowed around her, responding to her every whim and desire.
While the waters of the ocean were nice and friendly, the outside world was not. Rhea began to dream of a world where disease did not exist, where people lived in peace and harmony, and where no one ever had to die.
She travelled the world, seeking out those who were suffering and offering them her aid. She worked tirelessly, never resting until she had done everything in her power to help those in need. Rhea used her powers to calm storms and prevent floods. She would heal the sick, bring rain to drought-stricken lands, and guide lost sailors safely back to shore.
People everywhere revered her as a savior, a miracle worker, and a goddess.
But as the years passed, Rhea began to realize that the world she had created was not what she had hoped it would be. With no disease, people lived forever, and the population grew unchecked. There was no war, but there was also no progress, no innovation, and no creativity. People had no sense of urgency, no motivation, and no goals.
The world became stagnant, a place where nothing ever changed. Rhea's dream had come true, but it was a horrible place to live in. She saw the same people, doing the same things, day after day, year after year. They had lost their sense of purpose and their zest for life.
Rhea realized that death was a natural part of life, and that without it, life had no meaning. She had created a world where people were immortal, but they had lost their humanity in the process.
