I love Top Chef, but I haven't been watching this season. I need to get back on it. Great show. Do you watch Top Chef or any other cooking competition shows?

By the way, my dog is wearing the green apron. His Tofu Kale Kibble Bowl is not going to go over well with this judge.

Poor Dobby. He was concentrating on presentation, which is important. I hope he doesn't get yelled or cursed at too much. I've watched all types of cooking shows for decades and still do occasionally. There are more and more food /cooking channels and entire networks on these days! What I don't like about the cooking competitions is how they pit contestants against each other , encouraging them to talk smack about each other and allow them to sabotage one another. As a professional chef, I always ran my kitchens with teamwork and cooperation and that was the atmosphere in every successful kitchen I ever visited or in which worked. I'll turn a show off if the contestants, teaching chefs, or judges get too nasty. I just can't enjoy it. But I must be in the minority about that because they sure seem to promote the meaness. It must bring better ratings. Tell Dobby to keep trying his best and not to give up. Maybe he'll luck out with the show having a guest judge who's a cat that will appreciate his dish.

The only American competition shows I can watch are Top chef, top chef Junior and the kids baking championship. Other than that the only one I really really love is a Great British baking show. Everyone's just so much kinder to each other. And on the children's programs the kids are all rooting for each other and very willing to help each other out. Top chef for adults has grown into a really nice cooperative competitive kind of feel over the years.

I used to watch Worst Cook’s on Food Network with my girls (I think to make me feel better about “my” cooking. Lol) We also loved Cupcake Wars. I still pull up old episodes once in a while. My girls are young adults now and out on their own. Cute cartoon btw! :)

Stephen Gilberg

The only cooking show I watched more than once was "Yan Can Cook." Martin Yan could be pretty amusing, and what he made always looked appetizing.

That's cool you're a professional chef! What kind of restaurants did you work in? I do like the competitive cooking shows but also get turned off when things get too nasty or catty. I just like to see a good competition. And good dishes :)

Scott Metzger

Top Chef Junior! I forgot about that show. I don't know how those kids got so good by like age 10. They're doing these difficult sauces and reductions. Amazing

Scott Metzger

Cupcake Wars? That sounds funny. I've never heard it. I have seen Cake Boss though

Scott Metzger

I used to watch him when I was a kid. My dad loved him

Cupcake Wars was awesome! Competition to get a small business a boost or individuals to get some recognition. The final two teams would have to create a huge display that would hold 1000 cupcakes. They had to come up with the idea, but Cupcake Wars people had guys to build it. The people had to bake their 1000 cupcakes in 2 or 3 hours. (I can’t remember, but it was crazy) It was a Food Network show.

I started at the Golden Door Spa, then worked at my own businesses for 20 plus years, restaurants and catering. My specialty is regional Italian cooking. I taught cooking classes for many years at many various restaurants and never encountered that kind of unhealthy competition shown. It really bugs me! lol

Scott Metzger

I just Googled Golden Door Spa. Looks nice. Sounds like you've done a lot of interesting stuff in the culinary world. Very cool.

Poor Dobby. You have to know what the judge likes. I love the Great British Baking Show and also The Great American Recipe. The great thing about the latter was the way the contestants helped one another.

Your poor little dog! I have to say that I don't watch any of the cooking shows because I don't cook. At all. Other people cook things, put them in boxes and freeze them. I then buy the frozen items and microwave them. Works for me! (A couple years ago my 40-something year old microwave finally died and I nearly starved to death until I replaced it!)

I love all the baking championship shows!! And the ones where they use cake, candy, pumpkins, etc. to create cool scenes. But my hubby always asks me when I'm gonna make my own desserts!! 🤨

Scott Metzger

Hey whatever works! 40-year-old microwave? That must've been one of the first microwaves released!

Scott Metzger

I'm amazed by good bakers. Especially the ones who can make cake look like real objects. Amazing

Laurie Stoker

It was! My parents bought it for me in the early 80's. I can't remember the brand name but the company is no longer making them.

Kids Baking Championship is my go to. Im impressed y their abilities in the kitchen.

Scott Metzger

I haven't seen that show. I've watched Top Chef Junior. Pretty amazing what the kids can do
