These messages aren't too far off from how condescending and annoying my Apple Watch can be.

Anyone else have an Apple Watch? Do the "encouraging" messages annoy you too? I know I can turn them off, but sometimes they do help, like when it tells me a "brisk 5-minute walk will close your Move ring." Well, okay. I can do that.

My Apple watch only comments when I have been walking for a long (for me) distance and asks me if I should be tracking it. I say "no". This has happened twice in my life.

Apple Watch? I'm glad the people who like those get some benefit from them. I got a hand me down timex wristwatch from my father back in the 60's and it really does keep ticking.

When the Apple Watch came out, I had zero interest in it. But I kept hearing great things about it from friends and my wife got me one. It's been helpful - but annoying sometimes :)\

I prefer an analogue watch ⌚ and I work in tech 🤣

Paul Saunders

Yes, the other people in the household both have Garmin smart watches

Bert Driehuis

Your watch sounds like Marvin, the Paranoid Android!

This is my boss during our step challenge at work. Sorry, but it's been a hard week and I just want to sit and eat. Please respect my coping process!

Karen Jagielo

Yes!! I got suckered into buying one, and now I like it and hate it at the same time ;) especially annoying when I just want to veg out on a weekend.. “you’re not taking as many steps as you usually do by this time of day” 🙄

Scott Metzger

I feel that. It's been a hard week, a hard month, and a hard year.

Scott Metzger

Hahaha exactly. I've actually said, "Stop bossing me around, Apple Watch!"

I could not have an Apple Watch. I tend to be conscious/compulsive. That watch would trove me to drink. Plus a Roman sitting next to me on a plane was waving her arm up and down. She had an Apple Watch. I asked why she was waving her arm and she said she was in a step challenge and had to get her steps in. WHAT???

Nancy DeStadio

See, I made 2 mistakes in my post and it’s driving me crazy UGH!

I got my first Apple Watch in 2015 when they were introduced. I love my Apple Watch, but I quickly learned how to tell it not to remind me to stand up every hour,

Used to work with someone a few years ago who had an Apple watch. Told them one day their weight was one thing but the watch was way OVER by 100+ lbs. Never saw a watch go in the trash so fast...

I don’t have an Apple Watch, & don’t plan to get one. It would end up thrown against a wall. As Jimmy Buffett said, “I don’t want that much organization in my life.” I would also probably assassinate the Duolingo owl.

Scott Metzger

I just tried waving my arm up and down and it didn't increase my steps. Maybe you could fool the older versions. Or that woman was crazy

Scott Metzger

I do like my Apple Watch. It's great for running and long hikes :)

Scott Metzger

The Duolingo Owl is SUPER annoying. I deleted the app because of it

Gretchen

I love my Apple Watch. If you read the directions you can make it do whatever you want it to . You can program it on your iPhone. I am a very organized person so this device was made for me.

Joe Davis

Agreed 👍 useful but not unlike a cat when the food bowl is “empty “

I love my Apple Watch but I do wish it would be a bit more assertive! Maybe I need to look into enabling those encouraging messages. For the sake of my arthritic knees, I’d love a small jolt of electricity that would remind me to stand up every hour when I’ve fallen into a black hole of concentration at work. Those subtle chirps at my wrist ten minutes before the hour just don’t penetrate…

Julie Blume Nye

Waving your arm doesn’t count steps but it does fool your stand ring, when done correctly. I’m sure ppl have wondered about me in long meetings and on planes, too.
