Today I started drawing and Max jumped on the couch and just stared at me, as if he wanted to lodge a complaint about what I was drawing. My phone was right there so I took a picture. See second image of Max attacking my the pencil (the first time it's ever been caught on camera).

Almost every time I draw on the couch, Max jumps up and attacks my pencil. He can't help it. Pencils are his enemy. They are worse than string.

Sorry but you must know by now that those pencils are out to get him! Max needs to defend himself.

He's a good boy. Except when he attacks my pencils.

Paul Saunders

At least it's your pencils, instead of your toes, before dawn

Kirby G Miller

Clearly in this instance he doesn't want you bringing more dogs into the world (even if they are just drawn)! :)

Patrice M Christian

Max is guiding your hand, since he can't hold the pencil himself!

Lisa Krolasik

He's protecting you from the pencil! Give him treats!

Nancy DeStadio

You are fortunate that Max attacks pencils and not your hand. Sharp teeth could result in going out on disability.

Karen Jagielo

Lol - Max 😂 it's not the pencil, it's that the pencil is taking attention away from him... My Max was like that too! Anything that would steer your attention away from him was his enemy! 😉

Scott Metzger

He’s always on watch! He’ll do anything for Greenies

Scott Metzger

That’s the silver lining. He’s never attacked my hand, only the pencil

Stephen Gilberg

Of course he hates pencils. They're "number 2."

Laurie Stoker

So, clearly you are a cat person. If not in your mind, definitely in Max's mind!

Bert Driehuis

Am I misreading Max if I say your pencils may be so important to him, he wants to mark them as his property? The second photo reminds me of how our cat always used to reach up to my shirt pocket to wipe her cheek on my pen. You may be looking at a sign of approval!

Scott Metzger

I see what you’re saying, but Max is definitely attacking the pencils. His claws are out and I’m lucky he doesn’t go after my hand! :)

I love Max. He's a cat's cat. Also, kudos for taking decent phone pix with your left hand!

Scott Metzger

The funny thing is, Max actually doesn't mind dogs. He's pretty chill. My other cat, Hannah, doesn't like dogs - and she also doesn't really like Max. She tolerates him.
