National Cartoonist Society Awards (Patreon)

This year I was nominated for an award by the National Cartoonist Society (NCS). 

The NCS is an organization of professional cartoonists in the US. Every year they host the Reuben Awards weekend, where cartoonists in various professional divisions are honored with special plaques at a fancy black-tie gala. It's basically The Oscars for cartoonists.

This year's event was held in Kansas City and the awards ceremony was last night. I was nominated for the award in the Greeting Card division. 

Due to various personal reasons, I wasn't able to attend the event. I love events like this so it was a bummer not to go. A friend of mine took this photo of the program and sent it to me last night. He was kind enough not to add, "We're having an awesome time and you're TOTALLY missing out!"

I didn't win--the winner was Scott Jensen--but it truly was an honor to be nominated. And I found it kind of funny that all three nominees in that category were named Scott.
