I've recently signed on with a new greeting card company, Oatmeal Studios. These cards will be released soon.

Oatmeal Studios likes to have images on the inside of their cards so I've been working on these for the past few days.

Working with Oatmeal Studios is like going back to an old friend. They were the first company to license my greeting cards back in 1997. Back then, they wanted all of their cards to be hand-colored and I wasn't very good at coloring with markers. I wish I could post a sample of one of the old cards, but any samples I received from Oatmeal are now long gone.

When I began coloring my cartoons in Illustrator, in 1998, I asked the folks at Oatmeal Studios if I could color my cartoons digitally (I really hated hand coloring). They politely declined because they wanted all of the cards in their line to have a hand-colored, more "homemade" look. Understandable. So we just kind of drifted apart and went our separate ways (this kind of sounds like Oatmeal and I were old college buddies).

Last fall they approached me to do cards with them again and I was happy to join their group of artists. Their team is awesome and it's good to be back.

Heh, most joking cards I've seen put the punchline on the inside.

These are wonderful! I'm glad Oatmeal has embraced the digital age. It's fun having pictures inside the cards too.

Love them all, but the Excel shortcuts and the commas posing as apostrophes are my favorites.
