A bronze Welcome- Chapter 1
Rhea Royce
Rhea was not an overtly proud person, she was proud of her heritage, her house, and her father but she could also admit that she was proud to have married Daemon. It helped that she quickly became the envy of all the ladies in the Seven Kingdoms, her husband was clean always smelling of the forest or fresh leaves, he was thoughtful when he was with her, he was the most handsome man alive and best of all he knew how to please a lady. Just thinking about the things they did on their bed, in the kitchens and in the garden had her blushing up a storm, Rhea hadn’t felt this before and she hoped that it would never end.
As the future lady of Runestone walked the halls a frown came to her face, despite everything going perfectly there were still problems, she saw some servants looking out the window and sighing as they watched the men train or if she was being honest watching her man train. Daemon lacked any sort of shame and he was always training with the least amount of clothes on, it was as if he delighted on the attention which she knew he hated.
Perhaps hate was too strong a word Daemon disliked the stares more than the attention but he refused to train as the rest of the men did and while it certainly helped in making him very strapping, it also made him catch the attention of everyone in the castle.
The servants that were making eyes at her husband quickly sensed her stare and fled stammering out apologies and excuses as they made themselves scarce. With ‘hmm’ Rhea took their place and watched as he beloved prince danced around the blades of her father’s bannermen.
Daemon moved from side to side as if he was skipping before getting close to another knight, he banged his shield on his head as he pivoted to the side to avoid the blow from another all while he was showing off his chest to the world, Rhea was far from them but she swore to the seven that she could see how the drops of swat moved down from his chest to his pants and it made her think of what it would be like to be taken in the courtyard.
Her father would probably die of shame and Rhea would never be able to show her face in court but the chance to go down there and show all those women who coveted her husband that she was the one ‘riding the dragon’ would probably be worth it.
Her thoughts had distracted Rhea enough that she didn’t notice when the bout had ended then she saw the shadows on the wall and she realized that she would be late to the meeting with her father.

Willam Royce
“You’re as fearless as they claim prince Daemon” Willam said in good cheer as he took the offered hand of the prince.
“And you are far more skilled than I was led to believe, I can’t believe you almost got me, I dream of the day we can fight with our best swords” the easy smile and attitude of the prince made it easy to like him and could make one forget that just a moon ago Daemon was telling everyone that he hated it here.
“It’s easy when it’s two against one and I too long for the day when we may clash our Valyrian steel” Willam was not a fan of Daemon, he had thought him brash, cruel, and far too proud of himself but he had met him in a bad moment and he understood that “You know that once you put on some armor you won’t be capable of moving as you do now”
“That’s where you’re wrong my friend, I just have to get some armor to my design and you will see what I can do”
“Is that why you’ve spent the last two weeks with the smiths, I heard that one of those days you smelled so strongly of the forge that you took four baths in a row” Willam finished his words with a laugh that quickly spread to the other knights.
“Oh you may laugh now but even as I’m married ladies swoon as I pass, they don’t like your smelly asses for a reason, besides I know that you Willam” Daemon pointed an accusatory finger directly at his face “also enjoy bathing every day! So tell us who is the lucky lady… or lad”
More laughs came from those in the yard making him smile even as he denied having anyone he liked, Willam couldn’t help but notice the change in the atmosphere that had taken over Runestone ever since Daemon came, the place was filled with life. He understood now what many of the older generation said when they talked about the effect a Targaryen had on court.
Willam knew that if Daemon asked it he would march and so would every man that had spent some time with him. Daemons saw them as equals, he cared only for ability and wit, he was what Willam pictured when they talked about Jaehaerys’s early days as king.
It was a shame that a man like him was the second son or as Daemon said ‘the second sun’ for he always brightened whatever place he went to. Willam snorted at the bad joke.
“Well my friends that is all for today on my part, I have a project I’m working on that will surely be very useful for everyone”
“Like that barrel of wine?” a voice called out from behind them, it was the master at arms of the castle Ser Roland Stone.
“I admit that my last idea may not have been useful but it surely was enjoyable for everyone” Daemon’s answer brought a smile to the master at arms.
“Aye, it was also fun to watch all of you try to run while hungover.”

Yorbert Royce
“Tell me again this new method” Yorbert’s brother was as grim as ever and just as tall but that is what one should expect when talking to the ‘Bronze Giant’. Gunthor was also exceedingly bad at explaining things “You know I must return to the Eirye”
“I explained it as best as I could, if you want it explained better then we should call for Daemon” Gunthor exasperatedly said as he finished drinking his tankard of ale all at once.
“Daemon invented it” Yorbert wanted to scoff, but the once arrogant princeling had turned to be a far better match than he once thought, Yorbert wouldn’t forget the insults the boy levied at him or the disrespect he had shown him but as long as he was making Rhea happy the Lord of Runestone and Protector of the Vale would stay his hand.
Yorbert also didn’t want to meet Daemon for another reason, the Lord of Runestone had sent some people to spy on him thinking that the prince would do something to Rhea or to the people he ruled over, instead, he found himself regaled with tales of his daughter mounting her husband everywhere in Runestone if it was not Rhea who was initiating the…romps (as there was no other word to describe what they were doing) Yorbert would have had a stern talking with the prince but he wasn’t about to complain if they made him a grandfather soon even if he now could never enter the kitchens of his own home…or trust the flour used there.
“Did you see him do it?”
“Rhea saw him do it, apparently they wanted to go for a walk at night but since Rhea was so busy they couldn’t do it,” That reminded Yorbert that he shouldn’t trust the flowers in the garden either “so Daemon quickly showed her this double entry book keeping before helping her, on the morning she showed it to me and to the maester and it does help a lot, I’ve already cut the head of a man stealing from your coffers”
“hmm” Daemon was a smart man, a good fighter and a good administrator despite the dowry that he had paid Yorbert didn’t regret accepting the queen’s offer “Show me again how to do this”
Before his brother could do so, Rhea walked into the room. Without much care she ran toward him and gave him a hug that he gladly returned “I missed you father”
“I missed you too” Yorbert wasn’t a very emotional man, his position and his duties required him to make the best decisions for his house but he could admit that he loved his daughter. Gunthor coughed to get their attention and was soon on the receiving end of Rhea’s hug.
“You’re always here with me so I don’t miss you often uncle but I’m glad you’re here” Rhea’s smile was what every father wanted for his daughter.
“This is too much for me” Gunthor separated himself from his niece and dragged a bottle of wine closer to his lap, his brother may not show it but Yorbert knew he was embarrassed. No one had hugged him like that since their mother passed many years ago.
“Where is your husband?” Yorbert would run if Daemon was coming here as well, he would forever deny doing so but he really didn’t want to meet him right now, perhaps once he was holding a grandson in his arms Yorbert would forgive him.
Rhea sat beside her uncle before answering him “He’s playing with the sheepherders somewhere outside the castle, he says he has an idea on how to make a farm here”
Gunthor snorted at that “Doesn’t he know that even close to the cost it’s difficult to farm here, the cold kills the crops and the rocky terrain isn’t good for farming, even I know it!”
“Daemon says he has a solution for it and while I normally wouldn’t trust anyone promising to bring life to the land he hasn’t lied to me before”
“Daemon can play with the dirt as much as he likes, far be it for me to tell a Targaryen what to do with his time, at least he keeps the knights busy with his impromptu tournaments, does he still refuse to train with a horse?”
“I still find it funny that someone who come from a family of dragon riders is afraid of horses” Gunthor laughed as he served himself and Rhea some wine, wordlessly Yorbert passed him a glass so he could drink too.
“He isn’t afraid!” Rhea immediately came to Daemon’s defense making the ‘Bronze Brothers’ smirk at each other “he just..doesn’t like them” Rhea finished lamely.
“That means he is afraid Rhea” Gunthor laughed as he passed Yorbert the glass full of wine “he shouldn’t be though, cautious always, despite what many would say riding isdangerous many who have fallen of a horse never walk again, others simply sleep forever and then there are those unlucky few who are trampled by one and survive”
“Don’t scare her brother now she will never allow Daemon on a horse” Yorbert japed as he saw the way Rhea shook in her seat.
“From what I hear he has no problem mounting other things” Gunthor grumbled, the words had an immediate reaction both Yorbert and Rhea spat the wine that they were drinking, Yorbert didn’t know who was more mortified himself or his daughter but he knew who was more amused, his brother laughed until tears were falling from his eyes.
“Father I-“ Rhea’s mouth opened and closed but no sound came from her, she was so red that Yorbert could have sworn she was an apple and despite the circumstances, he couldn’t help but join his brother and laughed.
After he was done laughing Yorbert raised his hands in surrender as he saw Rhea about to leave “peace Rhea, I didn’t mean to insult you by laughing, its normal for you to spend time with your husband, the seven know that I wouldn’t mind seeing a grandson or granddaughter before I’m gone”
“Then I’m going to work hard in giving you one” Rhea walk out the room and slammed the door on her way out, while his brother continued to laugh at his misfortune.
“I’m so glad I had a boy” Gunthor smiled crookedly before wrapping his arm around Yorberts shoulder “let’s forget that and let me teach you how to make sure no one is stealing from you brother”
Learning the new bookkeeping method sure sounded a lot better than trying to go after Rhea.
