Strive Weekly Update #2 (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone. Here's the second weekly update, since last week we had another significant release. Multiple things have happened this week. The most important one is that we've started the mansion UI overhaul. The old one was really dated and felt unfinished, so we hope the new one will feel a lot better to play with. The main screen and leveling menu are already finished, but some functionality is still kept in the old "character info" subscreen.
There are two other somewhat related major updates planned for the next release. Firstly, we are updating the paperdoll. We are moving it to proper bones and meshes, so it should look better, have fewer bugs and glitches, as well as handle different clothes better. More clothes will be added (some of which just weren't properly added yet), and we also want to improve faces so they resemble unique character faces a bit better. It might even feature some small animated bits. And colors would be selectable with color picker instead of presets.
Another big one: I've started working on the actual mansion GUI. Basically, it would replace mansion upgrades and occupation mechanics, as you'd visually see mansion rooms and be able to place characters in them (including your bedroom). While mechanically it isn't terribly hard to do, it might take us a bit longer to cook the art for it, but overall I believe it's a very worthy addition.
Minor
We've added a buyback function to shops and fixed some of the prices impacted by the previous food update.
Last but not least, we are preparing a web version of the game. It will not feature the paperdoll, and the visuals will be downscaled a bit, but otherwise we should be able to achieve decent performance, keep most gameplay elements, and have export/import for saves and progress.
That's about all I wanted to tell you about today. Thank you for your support, and see you next week.
