On the day of the stream (March 2nd) we will send all Patrons a link to a private YouTube stream.

During the stream, Creative Director James Penca will discuss the state of the projects, what is to come for Project 401 and we will explore a bit of the new update to the demo!

on youtube you can playback streams even after they are over, if the link remains on the patroan; wich I think it will

James Penca

Yes we will make sure you can still watch!

Are VR capabilities far off? The ability to walk around the ship with the Oculus Quest 2 would be game changing.

Josh

I agree, exploring the ship in VR is what I’m most excited for. THG has said they still plan to incorporate it but not until the alpha.

I was browsing through the patreon feed back to 2020 and noticed that there are no HQ images of several Titanic areas: wheel house & navigation bridge, boat deck, poop deck, 1st class Smoking Room & Lounge, Turkish Bath & Pool. There are images of those on facebook and twitter but not on patreon !? I hope we get those and some more quality image uploads in the weeks after 401 V2.0 release :)

I might be wrong but didnt they mention on a stream VR-transfer should work already depending on the hardware/software y use?

Josh

They may have mentioned that but I can’t confirm. However, I was able to get V1.4 to work in VR with my Quest 2 using some tricks I read on Reddit. The performance was pretty bad though. Walking around the boat deck was tolerable, but once I got inside the ship the frame rate was so low it started to give me a headache lol. Im not an expert but I assume there’s a lot of optimization that goes into VR ports for performance.

Ah ok, I dont own VR set yet so can't try it. Guess for a good VR mode its a huge undertaking and requires special converting software?
