This entire sequence and the comic in general is written more like a manga than a United States comic book. Where panels and moments are meant to be slower. The pacing works better is setting the mood or taking a fight scene action by action. Or at least I hope it is. 

Also manga artists draw either 14 pages a week or 30+ pages per month (although the successful ones have assistants). Life goals.
