“Happy anniversary, my dreadful delight, here’s a statue of me.”

Grym is a plush now!

Youtooz reached out to me last year, interested in collaborating to bring one of my characters to life. As the previous cast already exists on the physical plane, Grym was the last one remaining to be granted access into real life. But the secret is finally out, and I can share him in all his gloriously glorious glory!

I’m especially happy with how much of his design made it into plush form: the colours, the two-toned mane, the curved horns, all the tiny details on his wings (which are posable!), even the tear in one of them. Which I sometimes forget to include in my comics, ha! (But not this time)

And with his arrival, my whole band of dragons are now complete! He will be the last plush, at least for the time being. Maybe the future will bring new ones with new characters, but for now he marks the end of this steady wave.

Since he will go live at the exact time of posting, this comic will be public on all my social media! I’ll post some extra photos and prototype art of him here.

The plush is part of a four-week Youtooz release, so I’ll leave the link here for anyone who happens to want one:

Bring me to Grym’s plush!

Blackbird :D

This is one of my favorite comics you ever made I love the background!!! Also remember I promised you that I will make figures of hopper and swordfish they are almost done, I just need to paint them and give them they're hoards! ;D

My biggest regret is never ordering the avoryx plush (I own all others) I WILL NOT REGRET AGAIN

I’m glad you caught Grym on time!! At the very least he can fully focus on guarding the young wyrmlets of your hoard

fishtrout

Thank you so much!! :) The sky was really enjoyable to paint (and the ruins a little less so). And of course I remember, super excited to see your creations! Sounds like you’re going absolutely all out with them

Blackbird :D

Thanks too! And yes I'm trying to go all out I ordered some cool looking Lego gold pieces so I can make a hoard for hopper and I ordered some Lego frogs to make a hoard for swordfish! And about swordfish he was a nightmare to sculpt and paint with all of his initial details and stripes but he's almost done now I just need to paint his mouth and teeth when hopper is not that much of a problem I think only thing that will be a bit complicated is the eyes!

fishtrout

That sounds so wonderful and creative! And gods Swordfish is a nightmare to color digitally sometimes when I’m not in the zone, so it must be even harder to sculpt. I admire your dedication!! :D

Blackbird :D

Yeah i can imagine that being hard to draw! Especially in the pose that he was standing in "Father duties" comic when Grym was flying over him that pose must have been hard to depict and the emotion aswell, also can I ask you where do you make your comics?

Oh I use a variety of mediums! The sketching part happens in a traditional sketchbook. From there on I use an iPad and switch between Procreate and Medibang Paint for lineart, coloring, backgrounds etc. Formatting is done on Procreate too
