Hopper's father - First Concept (Patreon)

TLDR: Hopper's father, Grym, was shot down by an opportunistic archer and he crashed straight into a wizard's tower, who happened to be preparing a shipment of  arcane wares to a circus. This is why he looks like...that.

It was about time I got around to designing Hopper's dad! I admit he turned out quite different from your usual dragon. This should also explain why Hopper looks like a gummy worm with her glistening pink scales and blue feet. Because an all-white dragon mother + a purple circus accident = pink hatchling. So Hopper inherited her mother's ferociousness, determination and bravery, and her father's scruffy fur. Thankfully it only appears in the winter months. Dragon genetics!

This is the first concept for Grym, so he might change and shift (it's the magical potions affecting him, not my artistic indecisiveness). Or maybe not, I really like this look, especially the twisty whiskers!

Grym is a menace of a dragon with his cunning and tendency to cause trouble, but he isn't the mauling sort. He has aggravated both dragons and humans by stealing treasure and cattle. Yet one day he got bold enough to fly over an exposed field in his search for gold, and was promptly shot through the wing by a dragonslayer. Grym managed to flap some distance before he got woozy from the blood loss, and crashed straight through the window of a wizard's tower. Right into the shipment of magical artefacts and potions that were meant to be sold to a passing circus.

Whatever mixture he created with his panicked thrashing, seeped into his wounds. His fur curled, whiskers twisted, and his scales shifted in an array of colors. And it seems to be a permanent change, one that can be passed down to offspring :O

This is about as far as his story goes for now, but there's definitely more to come! The wizard would definitely have to say something about this.
