Having re-watched it a few times now I am curious for your take: is The Big Short Junkfood Cinema AND, is there such a kink and Oscar bait Junkfood?

A Dizzy Bat

I very much enjoyed Sea of Rust, Cargill! But I was curious: did you have a specific mall in mind for the battleground at the start of the book? It felt like you were "wink-wink-ing" a specific place. Keep it junk-y, boys.

Why do you think spoofs have dropped so dramatically in quality? We went from iconic films like ‘Airplane!’, ‘Young Frankenstein’, and ‘Blazing Saddles’ to festering hemorrhoids like anything Marlon Wayans squirts out. I can’t think of any spoofs since the 90s that are even worth a drunken viewing on HBO.

With all the hype and anticipation for Blade Runner 2049, what are some stand-alone movies from the 80's you guys think could benefit from a sequel?

Andy

When has a popular song made an action scene better for you? the standouts for me recently have been the obviously amazing church scene in Kingsman, set to "Free Bird" and the Gazelle/Eggsy fight at the end set to "baby give it up" (shout out to "get down Saturday night" and oscar Isaac tearing up the fucking dance floor in Ex Machina)

Hey Junklords, I was wondering has there ever been a plot point in a movie that you got but inexplicably everyone else seemed to miss until you pointed it out.... also a theory as to why Cocteau was using Simon Phoenix the way he did. He couldn’t release him early because he didn’t have access to that all he could do was program someone. But beyond that I get the feeling that the plan went beyond killing Edgar Friendly. I think he wanted to scare people so he could push through laws to start putting the under dwellers into cryogenic and brain wash them to fit his world better.

I just recently watched the documentaries OUT OF PRINT and AMERICAN GRINDHOUSE. As deans at JFCU which movie-related documentaries would you put on the curriculum.

Any chance we could get a review or random thoughts on Joe Dante’s Explorers? Also, got my copy of Sea of Rust! Very stoked to read. Cheers men!

Is Alfred Hitchcock the ultimate junkfood master, that most people wouldn't think of as one?

Leon Collins

Cargill mentioned on the 3 musketeers podcasts that he loves the first hour of Alien Resurrection - got me wondering what other films do you guys like except for the last act? I would also agree with Alien resurrection :)

Ryan Suleski

With the release of LIttle Evil on Netflix, what movies/scripts would you like to see Netflix pick up that have been stuck in development for too long or not picked up my other studios? And last but not least what are your favorite horror comedies?

Shane

Do you guys like any of Ed Burns' movies? I've only seen Sidewalks of New York and liked it basically for David Krumholtz's "Man in the Uniform" as well as Stanley "The Tooch" Tucci playing such a cad. Been thinking of double featuring it with She's the One (as a eulogy for Tom Petty). Always thought of Ed Burns as a poor man's Ben Affleck. Thoughts?

Shane

Oh, and I also miss Brittany Murphy.

Shane

I agree that spoofs have gotten very derivative. What has maybe gotten better are homage movies. I recently watched The Love Witch from 2016, and it isn't a parody, but it totally commits to its 60's cult/sexploitation aesthetic. What results feels like spoof but manages to remain Un-Ironic.

The Brothers McMullen is an awesome movie. She‘s The One is basically the bigger budget version of that one (like El Mariachi and Desperado). I‘d give both a watch.

More underrated film: Alien 3 or Predator 2? Why do you feel that way?

Norvyn Klein

If you could remake Ice Pirates, would you? What would you do to make it better?
