Closing out the #DenzelWatchingthon, we arrive at the movie that proves that old Denzel is the most lethal Denzel. We discuss The Equalizer in the context of 2014's onslaught of old man revenge flicks, how it perfectly adapts the television series, and why Antoine Fuqua is the new Tony Scott. We also explain why we were so skeptical of David Harbour on Stranger Things.

This episode brought to you by Home Mart. Home Mart: You'll Kill for Our Deals!

I've been loving the Denzel series and sorry it's coming to an end so soon. It's a tribute to his body of work that you could've easily gone on longer. Would love an episode on Safe House which is a recent Denzel favourite of mine. OK, OK!

Wow, never realized denzel never did a sequel before… that's crazy when you really think about it

Denzel: Antoine, we at lunch? O-Kay! I just gotta run a quick errand. *Five minutes later* Prop Master: Anyone seen that sledgehammer for the Home Mart scene?

Jason Fortin

Hahahhaa. Yes! I remember waking up to the news how weird things got on the set in Quincy.

I know that the two cops doing shakedowns were involved with the Russian mob, but I thought that the robber was just some random asshole.

Another Boston Junkion here with an Equalizer story. When they were shooting this film back in 2013 Denzel rented out one of the screens at a local art house theater to watch "All Is Lost". Halfway through the film his assistant came down asking if the theater had any hot dogs for Denzel. The theater didn't serve any so they ran down the street frantically searching for a place that sold them. After the screening as Denzel was about to leave he turned around and gave the staff his classic grin.

I saw this in theaters and remember it making for a robust appetizer before John Wick happened a month later. I suspect they had to get creative with the kills, half occur seemingly offscreen, because Denzel is a bit long in the tooth and can't perform his own stunts as he once could. He lost his fastball somewhere between The Book of Eli and The Equalizer. Still badass though...
