Cargill actually misremembered Rockstar. Olyphant is the lead guitarist in Whalberg’s band. The lead singer in the opposite band is the lead singer from Third Eye Blind

As a Judas Priest fan I have to correct Cargill in that Rob Halford wasn't kicked out from Judas Priest because he's gay. Halford left the band in 1993 due to disagreement's betweeen himself, Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing over he and drummer Scott Travis forming the band Fight. The fellow band members as well as most other musicians in the heavy metal music community knew for years Halford and no one cared. Everyone kept quiet about Halford's sexuality in respect to him not publicly discussing or outing himself which he did in 1998. To quote K.K. Downing after Halford publicly outed himself "Rob being gay wa sthe worst kept secret in heavy metal" and FUCK Rockstar because that movie fucking sucks.

As a kaiju nerd this mailbag had me screaming at my phone. Or it would have if I wasn’t in public listening. Godzilla and his costars are owned by Toho, a company notorious for being HIGHLY litigious and protective of thier IP. Gamera on the other hand is owned by Daiei (or he was anyway, Daiei went bankrupt and were bought out by Kadokawa, still a different company from Toho). It’s common wisdom among Kaiju fans that Godzilla and Gamera are guaranteed to never cross over, as Toho are very cagey about crossovers and Kadokawa just don’t give a shit about Gamera. It’s pretty much like hoping for a crossover between the Disney Princesses and Shrek.
