This week, we're breaking from the One Junky Summer theme to honor an

immensely talented young actor who departed this planet all-too-soon.

Anton Yelchin didn't have a long career, but it is one filled with

phenomenal performance after phenomenal performance. Rugged, but

approachable, Yelchin was the perfect choice to lead the 2011 remake of

one of our favorite vampire movies. Fright Night does everything a

horror remake should do by honoring the original in spirit even as it

carves its own identity into human flesh. A must-watch for horror fans.

This episode is dedicated to Anton.

Wooo been asking for this episode for a while. Sad that we got it this way but Anton Yelchin was amazing. I so wish he could have been a bigger star. I was lobbying for him to play Spider-Man for a while now.

This movie has improved for me over time that I think it may actually be better than the original. Anton Yelchin's passing is so heartbreaking. He was just so likeable and charming, and even though he was mainly a character actor, he had that leading man charisma as can be seen in Charlie Bartlett and Odd Thomas. It's a shame that his passing has prevented him from playing against type as the villain in Mr. Mercedes. When it comes to Colin Farrell, even though he has his pile of stinkers, the guy is still one of the best actors working today. Say what you will about Season 2 of True Detective, he's fucking amazing in it. Finally, the new version of Peter Vincent gets major points just for being the only character to actually turn on the light in a dark house and even going so far as to point it out.

The Losers movie vs The A-Team movie. Who wins? I say A-Team.

I will give some credit to this remake- I avoided it completely since it was announced. The story is actually really good. The reason I abstained is the crappy cg. I hate the over reliance of cg in most if not all movies these days. This has some bad looking effects (that ending is laughable) but story wise I really enjoyed the more straightforward version presented here.

Weird though it is to say, this's definitely the version of Fright Night that I'd take to a desert island.
