BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS! I'm sure I called Cargill's top choice

Gun Nuts Films

I still laugh so hard when Brian describes Jingle all the way as a movie that "a buddhist monk would watch and then set himself on fire"

Michael Loiacono

For the second time ever (the first being Pacific Rim) I disagree with Cargill in a way where I can't just say "I can see that." You say nothing about Rocky Horror is legitimately good, the music is legitimately good. Not every song hits completely, but a vast majority of them do, which is always the first hurdle a musical has to clear.

OK so I watched Megaforce, and I have to say I liked it. I wanted to dislike it but I couldn't. I've heard the saying that nobody sets out to make a bad movie, but I feel like Megaforce is what happens when someone sets out to make a bad movie, and it ends up being good. I also just watched Spirit Of Vengeance and I have to say I was massively disappointed. Why? Because the beginning has so much promise. The intro with the assault on the monastery is excellent, Idris Elba is excellent (slightly dodgy accent aside) and even the first bits of Nic Cage are watchable. Ciaran Hinds is shown in the distance and from some odd angles and I'm thinking "Yeah, this could be a pretty damn good Marvel movie". Then about a third of the way through Ciaran Hinds appears to lose all his subtlety and starts chewing scenery in the worst possible way, Blackout is created and I have to say the Blackout makeup is... to say second rate would be offensive to second rate movies. It's just so out of place. Nic Cage does his best 'Not the bees!' madness which is kind of OK, but then Christopher Lambert (normally eminently watchable) turns up with a tattooed face, and it just goes bad from there. In terms of plot holes, what happened to Ghost Rider declaring people innocent from the first movie? It's such a shame, because I can feel the potential of this film in my bones (no pun intended), and it wasn't lost through accident or bad luck or circumstance, I felt that laziness kicked in part way through production somehow. With some tweaks it could be awesome. It may even be possible to re-cut it into a good movie somehow. Also is there a pattern of Cargill liking motorcycle movies? :) Next on my list (after Tombstone and Road House) is going to be Jingle All The Way I think.

I love Jingle all the way, it is a movie I watch around the holidays every year.
