Keith in regards to the Jacob killing people it’s exactly like Kristian said above and it can also be linked to what Eloise said: “The Universe, unfortunately, has a way of course-correcting. That man was supposed to die, that was his path. Just as it's *your* path to go to the island. You don't do it because you choose to, Desmond; you do it because you're supposed to”. Sounds like she might have met Jacob before and I would bet she is repeating a quote from Jacob just like Desmond uses that line to explain to Charlie that he’s going to die.

100% agree with the comments about Jacob and killing people. He didn't cause the plane to crash. It was just the event that brought certain candidates to the island. So essentially, had they not been candidates, they'd have died in the crash. I think it also helps explain how these people survived in the first place, and ties in nicely to Locke's conversation with Jack in S1. ''Do you really think all this is an accident? That we, a group of strangers survived, many of us with just superficial injuries? Do you think we crashed on this place by coincidence?'' The plane crash WAS an accident. caused by Desmond. But it wasn't an accident that these specific passengers were on board. Great reaction as always!
