Do not use AI (Patreon)

You were probably expecting me to give some rant about how AI steals content or takes jobs from people. But no. I think AI is a tool like Photoshop and if artists don’t learn to utilize it they will pigeonhole themselves out of a job. And AI doesn’t steal content, it LEARNS from content, the same as a human does. Its creations are unique.

What I mean by “Don’t use AI” is just “don’t try to have it help you make a game”… It absolutely cannot. I tried to ask it some questions about Unreal today and out of the 10 questions I asked it, it gave me 10 wrong answers. It told me to do things that’s don’t even exist in Unreal. And had I tried any of the things it recommended it would have broken my game. Luckily I immediately knew it was wrong…

Worst part is, it would give me a bogus response, I’d call it out, it would alologize and say “You’re right, I fucked up. Here’s the right way to do it.” And then it would give me another absurd answer.

Maybe in a year or two it’ll be ready to help with game design. But it’s not there yet. I fixed my problem the old fashioned way. I just fucked around until I figured it out. Problem solved.
