I mean, this is a kick in the balls. To me, the hardest part of Unreal Game Dev is building animation blueprints. I’ve been dreading it since I decided to switch to Unreal. It’s just a pain in the ass.

I spent all night setting it up. Wasn’t as bad as I remembered. But there are a couple basic animations I need that I don’t have so I’m going to have to make those by hand. No big deal really. Just a little extra work.

Right now the animation blueprints will be simple. You’re not going to have The Last of Us quality animations for movements and interactions. But they won’t be janky either. As I continue to build the game I will revisit the Animation Blueprints and upgrade them with more features. Like additive animations and idle breaks and varying versions of animations like dialogue… So the longer we go on, the better the animation system will get.

Right now I just want to get something playable.
