Why Support This Game?
Patreon isn't a pre-order.
It's how games like this get made.
Most indie developers don't have publishers, investors, or large budgets. Adult visual novels are an even smaller niche, and most never get finished. They run out of time, money, or motivation long before release.
When you support Harvesting Corruption, you're not just buying a future game. You're helping make it possible. Every render, animation, system, and scene exists because people chose to support the project while it was still being built. Currently, everything comes out of my own pocket.
By the end, you may have spent more than the game's eventual price.
That's because you weren't buying a game, you were helping to create it.
Why Updates Sometimes Take Time
My goal has never been to release ugly content as quickly as possible.
My goal is to build the best game I can and have it look the best it can.
I work 15 to 18 hours a day, seven days a week, and I'm always looking for ways to become more efficient. What I won't do is sacrifice quality just to release quicker updates. 2 weeks to 2 months per release isn't that long of a cycle.
I'm only about six months into development, which means I'm still building the foundation the rest of the game will run on.
Many early features may seem simple, but they're actually core systems.
Cabin Knock becomes repeatable character events and future sex scenes.
Clickable objects become quests, puzzles, and item interactions.
Minigames become long-term stat progression.
Stores, jobs, and talent trees are being built now so they can support the rest of the game for years.
I also chose to remake older content after dramatically improving my AI workflow. Instead of continuing with inconsistent visuals and rebuilding even more later, I'm fixing the foundation now. If you're playing after v0.0.49, you're seeing the improved visuals.
Story vs. Systems
The first in-game week is intentionally focused on introducing characters while the game's systems are completed.
Once those systems are in place, development shifts much more heavily toward story content. Future updates become faster because I'm spending far less time creating new mechanics and far more time writing scenes and events.
Grinding
Some progression is intentionally grindy.
Players who invest the extra time into building Annika's stats will unlock additional scenes, events, and content that casual players won't see.
That said, I'm always looking for better ways to make progression enjoyable. For example, I already plan to add additional ways to earn Intelligence besides the current memory game.
The Thirst Trap
The current Thirst Trap is only the core gameplay loop.
Right now you're seeing roughly 5% of what it's intended to become.
As development continues, it will gain a much larger talent tree, many more customer interactions, repeatable events, and a lot more adult content.
Thank You
If you're here because you value quality over rushing releases, thank you.
The work happening today may not always look exciting, but it's laying the foundation that will allow the second half of development to focus almost entirely on story, characters, and content instead of rebuilding core systems.
