A lot of people didn't like that I took a 5 day vacation with my kids. But I think when you see what I'm still able to accomplish in these two months, you'll see that it's important to just put your trust in me and let me cook. Some of the biggest Adult Games out there are doing bi-annual updates now. Some are taking even longer than that.

My updates have always landed anywhere from a couple of weeks to, at the VERY most, around three months, and the one time we had a three month wait, I was building something massive.

So...

How long until the next update?

I’m thinking a few more weeks.

I still can’t give you an exact date because there is a LOT of work involved here, and I’m not going to throw out some bullshit deadline just to make people feel better for five minutes.

But I can tell you what’s coming.

Replaced the old Stat Increase notifications with animated GIFs.

Affinity Gains AND Losses now have their own separate animated GIFs, so you’ll finally know when somebody likes you less.

Remade a ton of Hover Icons for interactable objects around the game.

Added the new Plant Harvesting System.

Added the new Potion Brewing System.

Added a new RNG Dialogue System, allowing you to run into NPCs where they work and have random, inconsequential conversations with them.

Created Rainy Day versions of EVERY background.

Updated EVERY image of the Thirst Trap patrons to match the quality of the Visual Overhaul.

Updated EVERY image of Annika working at the Thirst Trap to match the Visual Overhaul.

Remade a couple dozen additional images that still weren’t up to my standards after the Visual Overhaul.

Created NPC Map Icons so you can see where characters are at different times.

Added new music and sound effects.

Expanded Cabin Knocking with new options, including opportunities to get in some sexy time.

Added the next collectible Polaroid.

Added a brand-new location and Key Puzzle.

Added a new Dream Sequence.

Added a new Dinner Tease Scene with Chance.

Added a new Sex Scene with Chance in his cabin.

Added a new Sex Scene with Elliot in his cabin.

Added Contraceptives to the game systems.

Added TWO new random animated encounters at the Thirst Trap.

Added more than 1,000 lines of new dialogue.

Added a new scene involving the dog, including a puzzle.

Added a new scene with The Witch.

Added Raven’s Journal with fully turnable pages.

And that’s the update.

Most of that list is already 100% COMPLETE.

What I’m still finishing right now is the Plant Harvesting System, the Witch scene, and editing the video for one of the animations.

After that, I have to code all of this new content into the game, run the Witch scene images through my AI and Photoshop pipeline, integrate everything, test it, fix whatever inevitably decides to explode, and make sure the update is actually ready before I put it in your hands.

This has been a LOT of work over the last month.

A lot of hours.

A lot of moving pieces.

And yes, a lot of stress.

So sincerely, thank you to everyone who didn’t immediately bounce the second I mentioned taking five days off with my kids.

And thank you to the people who aren’t constantly telling me to hurry up like I’ve got a magic wand sitting next to my keyboard that generates finished game updates whenever I wave it around.

This shit takes time.

Good renders take time.

Animations take time and money

Writing takes time.

Coding takes time.

Testing takes time.

Building entirely new gameplay systems REALLY takes time.

I’m still here. I’m still working. And when this update drops, I think the amount of work packed into it is going to speak for itself.

So give me a few more weeks.

And let me cook.

When I think about how "A Wife and a Mother" only gets one update a year... well, there are still so many things missing. 1) A new chapter of the book. 2) A stat sheet for every character, including height, weight, shoe size, and favorite Cradle of Filth song (using the metric system, since the world is sick of converting everything from the "democracy-per-hamburger" units you guys use). 3) The ability to piss all over the farm or the town. 4) Starting to find diary logs from the guys who visited the farm before, and discovering their fates...

Having breaks and vacations are good for the spirit🫡. I noticed that lily has a juicy backside , is it possible for some big booty jiggly physics content with her ?😉

New Chapter of the Book is coming in the Day 6 Update. Our metric system is dumb. But not a chance I'm converting it. lol. More stats? You'll have to use your imagination. Pissing all over the farm? That's "kinda" coming in a future update. You'll have to be aware of needing to use the bathroom or you'll have an accident. Diary Logs from previous guests? Funny enough, that IS coming...

Take your time, have breaks and enjoy life too. This game is a journey, not a sprint.

Grumpycat

A lot of people who didn't dig on you taking a vacation need to siddown and shut the hell up.

Larry

Ignore those people who don't want you to have a vacation and spend with your kids.

100%. I've got a ways to go. I'd like to get it all done within a year though. We'll see.

I commend you for all the work you claim—I believe people until proven otherwise—to have completed while working a fulltime job and/or vacationing with the family. That's awesome. I often suspect "the other guys" have the one or two updates per year just to drag out their monetary streams or, they use aliases to work on multiple games for increased revenue. Since I haven't tried rendering scenes, I can't verify it takes as long as they claim to create them. I play dozens of games provided through Patreon. Your game is in my top five. Thank you for all your efforts.

I would LOVE to tell you about this... The more people know, the better equipped they are to deal with Devs just milking them, or on the flip side, be more nice to devs truly working hard. A Daz Render, doesn't take that long. Setting up a scene initially, can take a full day. Sometimes a week or two if it's like my FULL Ranch which is a 2 story house fully furnished plus furnished cabins and trails with foliage... But once you have that scene set up, it's done. Then you're just bringing in characters and posing them. Each post can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 30. The render only takes anywhere from 1 minute to 10, depending on your PC. But you also have to move lighting around which can be another 5-20 minutes. That's where MOST developers stop. I on the other hand have a whole AI and Photoshop workflow that comes AFTER that. Running the AI takes about 3-5 minutes PER image. Then photoshop can take anywhere from 30 seconds to an hour. Depending on how much needs fixing. But then if you're a dummy like me, you've given your main character 12 outfits, so for every render you make, you have to make 12 of them, for each outfit. So times everything I just said by 12. lol. That's for the renders... Then you've got coding. That can be pretty fast per scene... Maybe a day. If you're doing basic choice based dialogue. But if you're a dummy like me, you've got systems that interact with other systems, like stats and affinity that decide which outcome you get, which also depends on time of day and outfit, and then on top of that, I do about 10 different chunks of dialogue PER one conversation, this way you get random dialogue every time you talk to someone, and that makes the game feel fresh... BUt you have to code in all those expressions too... lol And that would be crazy enough, but then I do AI video's. And that's my achilles heel. Because if I want to make a video, I have to render the base pose for each "pose" first, AI and Photoshop it, then have AI try to make NSFW video's out of that.... And these are EXPENSIVE... REALLY expensive. Each run of the video generator is multiple dollars. And sadly, it takes about 5-10 tries, before I get one good 6 second clip. Then I need about 20 clips per video, I need all the sound effects, the music, and then I have to spend a couple days editing that in my video editor... :) And that's really just the beginning. So how can I get out an update every 2 weeks to 2 months? Well, this is ALL I do. 15 hours - 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round, no holidays. Except I did just go on a 5 day vacation for my kids...

The last time I had customers feel so entitled, I fired them. Generally, the level of self-entitlement is inversely proportional to the revenue they generate, since they inherently disrespect and don't value people's time.

Br4dders

I predict that Joel won't be telling Annika to use the toilet in the future lol ;)

Hit and sunk 😅

Fuck the haters and do your thing. I used to watch MST3K back in the day and I saw an interview with the writers where they said "we don't write things east to get, we write things for the RIGHT PEOPLE to get." That's your market, the right people. The right people want quality and inventiveness, which you deliver in droves. Lead time is a non-factor.

M Monroe

Who cares if people are upset with you taking time off to spend time with your family. Everyone needs a break and family always comes before everyone and everything else.

Silentbob

Probably only a few got mad! Oh well can't please everyone.
