A patron asked about watermark free maps.  On one hand, watermarks help drive people to the site.  On the other hand they are annoying.  On the other hand they are small in the corner so not really that bad.  On the other hand, they can be cropped out pretty easily if its a bother.   On the other hand, someone reposted an earlier map with the watermark cut off and "implied" they created it.  

I am not sure how many hands we are up to at this point... but as you can see, I see both sides.  Now, I want to hear from you fine folks!

I always find water marks/logos are great to know who's maps I'm using, even more so when on stream, so long as they're out of the way or in an area the players won't be exploring!

I think watermarks are important for a few reasons. Like Adam said, I like to know where I got the maps from, so I know where to go for more. But as you said in the description of the vote, people could claim that they made the map. While some wouldn't see this as TOO much of a problem, it is still technically theft. If possible, you could create a version of your maps both with and without the watermark. I assume you draw in Photoshop, or its free alternative, GIMP (Actual name, the makers were having a laugh). If so, then you could save the image with the watermark on its own layer so you could export two versions pretty easily. Just tossing my thoughts out there.

The only impact your watermarks ever have is to excite my players because they know they are getting something good with Gimmie Pig. No-one would ever suggest a painter doesn't sign his work, or an author leave his name off a book - this is no different. Add your watermark and be proud of it!

If I'm doing my job as a DM my players aren't paying too much attention to a small watermark in the corner
