In the situation in the video, no matter how much you try to explain a person to chat it wouldn't be able to understand them as much as you do. So i think its counterintuitive to say you want to get better at the the difficult situations and then use a resource like chat to make it easier.

James think about it this way. The skill to drive manual has dropped since automatic cars arrived. If everybody starts using Chatgpt for critical thinking skills I.e managing difficult situations, we will loose the skill/become worse at it. You're telling me in every uncomfortable social situation you're just going to be like "hang on. Let me just ask chatgpt" cause that's essentially what you're doing. And I hate to judge but personally I wouldn't respect a word that you say if you have to refer to AI to be able to get your way through difficult conversations. The brain is a muscle, you have to use skills and practice them to improve them. Look at what social media has done to us socially. Especially with dating. It's not good!

I 100% agree with Ellis regarding AI usage. The way people are using AI right now is going to bring about catastrophic failures because it is essentially teaching people to focus on failing and circumventing failing when failing is absolutely essential to the growth process. No successful person has succeeded without failing 100+ times, but if you have trained yourself to become a person who avoids failure and even worse gives up autonomy to an imperfect and non-human machine, you're going to have an extremely tough time. Further, studies are, in fact, showing that AI usage is "killing brain cells" in a "use it or lose it " way. Generative AI usage is causing cognitive atrophy because you are no longer using your brain to "think" since ChatGPT and co. are doing the thinking for you. If you hard stop using all Generative AI for a week, the amount of cognitive decline you will see in yourself will scare you, and it will take some time to repair.

I am 💯 in agreement with Ellis. Difficult conversations is something you learn and practice and grow in. AI is absolutely going to make people more stupid and dependant on it. We will get to a stage where we cannot just converse back and forth, without first having AI curate it. I am pretty good at Difficult conversations but I got better through trial and error and as a result, my brain has developed connections and routes, in order to navigate these situations, which I would never have learnt had I been using AI my whole life. AI is NOT good for society and it WILL eventually backfire. An example is genZ. They have no resilience due to society becoming so sensitive. We are so worried about upsetting people that now no one can speak their mind without offending someone. Its ridiculous and we are screwed for it.
