It is nearly impossible not to carry the trauma of severe bullying into adulthood. Even if you „get over it“, there’s small ways that bullying changes your development and still affects you as an adult. For example if you’re a girl and you got bullied by boys throughout your formative years, it’ll still affect your dating life later on as an adult and the way you view men in general. People definitely underestimate the amount of damage bullying causes to children and the long term effects. Even with adults you can often tell when someone got bullied in school.

As a person who was bullied 7th & 8th, I was raised not to curse or fight. My mom realized and she said to defend myself. So I did.. my bullies were family members. Now as a mom myself, I’ll be damned if my daughter gets bullied. I told her to defend herself and fight back.
