The boys are back, and if the boys wanna talk tariffs you’d better let ‘em. First we check in on the status of Matt’s ten shares of Yahoo before we break the news that Trump blinked on his economic master plan. Then we make some ass eating jokes. What podcast is this, Planet FUNNY??? Oh brother!!!!!

We take an ol’ ear gander at the new Kanye banger. Let’s just say you will nazi where he’s going with this one!

The newly radicalized Frotbois then talk about the big White Lotus finale. Furtive glances, unaired grievances, tasteful B-roll shots, ominously foreshadowed events occurring…this one’s got it all! We agree that Walton Goggins rules,Carrie Coon rules, and we would watch an entire show about Parker Posey as a pilled-out idle rich lady.

To round things out, Matt gets personal by talking about the feud between his dick and balls that is TEARING HIS GOOCH APART.

Is it ironic that people are drinking at your expense while you can’t drink ever?

Gaitok was too soft to have shot an unarmed man and felt fine about it, and it would have been interesting to see him deal with that despite having "won". The thing with Leslie Bibb and Parker Posey could have absolutely played out more. Lochlan could have died only for Dad to find out he was only getting a slap on the wrist...? Rick seemed to be on a suicide mission from the start so fine with his ending, but a shred more background would have been nice; he struck me as maybe a former spook, but there would need to be a reason his fieldcraft was so bad. Edit: disgraced/corrupt DEA agent feels right, and could explain how he can afford to be a world traveler, tight-lipped about his work, and why Chelsea knows he has a capacity for doing violence. Overall pretty good though IMO. Little detail I noticed: after Piper has her epiphany about who she is and what she wants, the next day she's wearing eye makeup after a full season of very little or none at all.

Just to be clear, Minecraft was a millennial/older gen-z game. Today’s toddlers merely appropriated our culture.

My “why was Sideways big?” theory was that a lot of middle class liberal boomers love wine as a cultured status symbol; Sideways both increased visibility of that status and offered basic gateway wine opinions for those on the outs of the hobby, in addition to being good, so it blew up.

I agree it didn't have a satisfying conclusion, but the incest story line was explored in the Sam Rockwell monologue about sex and attraction that happened the same night as the handy. Basically his theory that sexual desire isn't about having so much as about becoming (unifying yin/yang stuff that we see pretty explicitly with the story and imagery of Rick and Chelsea). The little brother's sexual interest in the older is mostly this, as he's constantly bombarded with messages about becoming a carbon copy of the manly men in his family. Jason Isaacs and Arnold Jr express similar pressures that manifest, um, slightly differently. The protein powder is an explicit act of transformation (also referenced by Sam Rockwell in making himself up like Thai girls before his sexual encounters), and it's intentional on the show's part that that almost killed him. (Could have easily been leftover pina colada this high schooler wanted to try, but they had to make it dumber in his not washing out the blender for the theme to land.) The visual metaphor of the water droplets in Jason Isaacs's story line is also about becoming unified, this time in death. They are the droplets who understand that separation is suffering. Essentially the underlying theme of the Ratliff story line is that these people seek deep interconnectedness with each other. In death, in sex, in work, in identity, in class, in education, etc. The people pleaser thing is true but it's not the real message. Do I think it works? Not really, the reckoning didn't land IMO. Missing a few steps in between the crisis and epiphany, my same issue with Carrie Coon's story. But there's a lot there that was explored.

i am a shitty buddhist like the daughter and that background knowledge is def useful for examining the themes (which is maybe a weakness of the show. I love Mike White but White Lotus is my least favorite project of his.)

Great Frot, but I'm also over here yelling "Mad Yourself a Man! Mad Yourself a Man!" in the tone of Heroin Matt demanding KFC.

The guy that played Fabian also played Rudolf Höss in The Zone of Interest and it was initially a little distracting, but then it started to feel like he was just another of the people there who had fled to Thailand to escape a former life.
