Hey all,

First off, sorry I'm a little behind on sending out branded stuff to some of you.  I'm working on it now.

Speaking of that stuff, we have been sending random DGBC barware stuff to folks and love seeing them get worked out.  But patron Brent suggested something I wanted to propose to everyone:  what if instead of sending another random piece of beer paraphernalia, we sent a book we suggest you read (good books only)?  We'd avoid ones we've done on the show since you may have heard those episodes.  This would work best if you are relatively active on Goodreads and follow/friend us so we can make sure to not send something you've already read.

Believe it or not, there are books we enjoyed reading and would recommend to people!

I'll be reaching out to the people we owe something to so I can confirm mailing address, but let us know what you think.

Did this last time rather than another coaster or mug and it worked out well. Ended up with a book that never would have crossed my radar otherwise. Helpful if your friends and family are mostly illiterate and can't give you book suggestions.Highly recommend you folks give it a try!

Another book suggestion for you guys that I know would be up your alley! The first book of the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie, The Blade Itself! Still my favourite book series ever! A gritty, gothic fantasy series with some of the most memorable and charismatic characters ever put to paper, and moreover Abercrombie has a wicked, though extremely dark, sense of humour. It’s not at all a dense book too, and is actually quite breezy to read. It was a massive hit so I’m sure many of your audience have also heard about it. Thanks for the show guys!

The Drunk Guys Book Club

Thanks again for suggesting it, Brent! It was a fun challenge to find something worthy of sending out that also wasn't already on that imposing bookshelf you like to show off during live episodes. I'm guessing Johannes Cabal wasn't a homerun though.

We just talked about this on our yearend best/worst books discussion. I read the main series years ago and really liked it, Nate read (listened to) the trilogy and all of the side stuff in 2022. I think it wouldn't be too hard to get Jimmy to go for it.

It's one of the books that doesn't blow you away but is good enough to want to read the next one

The Drunk Guys Book Club

I remember a lot of allusions to Something Wicked This Way Comes. And snark. Other than that I don't remember much, but I enjoyed the rest of the series.

Like your idea, and what a nice surprise it would be to receive a book from the DGBC. I’m envisioning a used book, and keeping a liked, and/or treasured book alive in this way.
