The simple fishing boat was sparsely furnished, but it contained the radio set that Tyler was looking for. Turning it on, Tyler dialed the frequency to the one she used often, the PD Dispatch. Hands trembling, her heart leaped when she hears the familiar chatter buzz out from the speakers.

“OfFicEr MaEvE, HeRe!”, Tyler called out into the handset, the words a warbled jumble. Shocked at her own alien voice, Tyler could feel her throat and mouth remodel itself, back into a more human proportion.

Coughing a few times before testing again, Tyler finally got her voice back, and called out onto the radio once more.

“Officer Maeve, here! 2-4-0-1. Requesting for backup at the Dockyards, southern pier.”

“This is Dispatch, acknowledge…. Wait, Tyler? Is that you?!”

“Yes! Come quick! I may be under pursuit!”

“Roger, we’ll send help right away. Stay safe, Tyler!”

Elated at having made contact with help, Tyler wanted to stay on-air, but the quiet pier reminded her of her vulnerable state. Glancing around, the boat’s bright red flare kit caught her attention. Ripping it open, Tyler helped herself with the flare gun.

It’s nothing compared to her standard firearm, but the familiar grip gave her some semblance of security. Hopefully, she won’t have to use it till help arrives.

Artist's Note:

Not really sure how to write police radio chatter accurately, am just winging it.

I wonder if a swat team will show up now and how they react to the new queen

It's good that she is proficent with a gun, but she has a long way to go with her alien powers. And she better learn them quick.
