Yessss!!! Here we go on a magical and dramatic adventure!

Andrew Clifton

Oh dang yall putting in work. This is my personal favorite show of all time. BB / BCS would be 2. I truly appreciate all your hard work and sacrifice. I truly hope you guys are hanging in there. 🙏 Much love.

Max R

i've been waiting for this!!!! i can't wait for your reactions!!!!

Jimmy Greer

Oh my Sweet Summer Children, ya'll are in for a crazy ride. But I feel like Maple is doing a good job keeping track of the backstory. Cause yeah, GRRM's world is SOOOOOOOOO deep that it's crazy. So yeah, good job picking up on the why Robert hates the Targaryeans but just missed on the who. Robert was talking about their brother & heir to the throne...they were very young. Dany was born like almost the same time that Robert took the throne. And Arianna is right. The books are some detailed SOBs. I've read them 3 times and I will absolutely pick up on some new details a 4th time through. And there is a LOT of between the lines stuff and sources to consider....cause GRRM is NOT writing from the omnipotent POV. No, you have to dig through fever dreams, people's biases or loyalties, rumors, the specific wording used to discover the REAL truth of things. So I do understand why it takes him forever to write a book. The dude created such an immense world with literally HUNDREDS of characters to keep track of. Who is where, with whom, what things do they know, what could happen if these characters get to talking, etc. But still, PLEASE FINISH THE STORY!! I am secretly hoping he's done what he did the last time. Been writing 2 books at once. So when he's done with Winds he'll be like halfway done with Dream. Kinda like he did with Feast & Dance.

AidanxKen

Can't wait for the journey of Asoiaf with the girls. It's an extremely hard frustrating one but well worth the reward. Good luck!!!

PurportedGrey

I agree it is a fascinating and grand journey, but those last 4 seasons are so hard to get through now and aren't a worthy reward for everything set up in the first 4 seasons. I think if and when we get the last 2 books finally, it will be a worthy reward. imo of course.

cat named toebean

I’m begging you guys to do 2-3 episodes each session, this world is so big and full of so many named characters, I just think it’s gonna be tough juggling it all with all of the other shows you’re watching too, hopefully you guys can keep track because the story and everything in this world are just so satisfying when you actually know what’s going on each episode and how events and things were carried over episode by episode, it’s pure art

PurportedGrey

Yall are in for an amazing roller-coaster of a story and world! All of my book fan/inconsistent story continuity gripes aside this is one of the greatest shows ever put to film. Watch out for people being ahorse or abed... they are shapeshifters and shouldn't be trusted.😂

Arianna

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Well said!

Christophe

Wow deepcut Tyrek Lannister reference right out of the gate. I feel like they would need to descend pretty far down the ASOIAF iceberg before they get that one.

Christophe

Oh no, we've got some copium going on 🙈 he is defo not already writing ADoS, sorry 😅

aarswft

Locking in for 73 episodes of talking over important dialogue and then being confused about what's happening.

FW27

Such a great first reaction!! I personally had a hard time picking up on certain things my first time watching the pilot episode, but you all got pretty much everything. This is a fun reaction dynamic though since Arianna is familiar with the source material and Maple is (mostly) blind. I can’t wait for the journey ahead 🙏🏾 Also, hope you all are doing well!

PurportedGrey

That's the ultimate reference for any true ASOIAF fan. All kidding aside, it is a great barometer for how many Glidus/Alt fans their are in any reactors comments.

AidanxKen

I'm not as harsh on season 5 and 6 as others but maybe that'll change once I start the books after Fire & Blood. 7 and 8 I have completely blocked from memory, plan to keep it that way too.

Christophe

Honestly, a flowchart could be pretty useful, especially for Maple. Just of the family relations, who is married to who, who is related to who, all of that. It gets messy. Also a map could be useful. That's why people said to pay attention to the opening sequence, they show the world map with a focus on the places that we'll spend time in in that particular episode. Maybe a couple things to help you with what we've seen so far: The Wall is in the far north, it's a giant icewall expanding east-west across the continent of Westeros. North of the Wall is where the wildling live, a tribal folk, and apparently the mysterious White Walkers. The Wall is patrolled by the Night's Watch (who occasionally range north of the Wall to patrol and make note of the wildlings' movements), an order of sworn brothers that wear all black and are sworn to celibacy. The three people in the cold open were Night's Watch Men, as is uncle Benjen, and Jon Snow wants to join them. Winterfell is in "the North", one of the 9 regions of Westeros (the main continent this story takes place on), which is the northernmost part ruled by the king but still south of the Wall. Winterfell is the seat of the Warden of the North, the Starks, who rule over all of it, including lesser lords that are situated elsewhere in the North. But Winterfell sits pretty much smack dab in the middle of the North, and the North is huge, so it's still some way off from the Wall. King's Landing is in the southern half of the continent and obviously the capital of Westeros and where the King (Robert Baratheon) has his seat. The Lannisters are from the West of Westeros and Jon Arryn (the dead Hand of the King) is from the East, which is where his widow Lysa Arryn (Catelyn's sister) fled to, their seat is called the Eyrie. The Targaryens used to rule Westeros until Robert overthrew them and now the remaining Targaryens fled the continent and are across the Narrow Sea (a narrow strip of water separating the continents of Westeros and Essos) in Exile, currently in the City of Pentos where we meet them.

Jimmy Greer

Some of the stories GRRM tells between the lines can be soooooo painfully beautiful. Like obviously that moment between Benjen & Jon feels like a nice family moment on it's own. But when you realize Benjen is almost certainly knowlegeable about the TRUTH then the words he's telling Jon hold like 1000x the meaning that they do. And while GRRM hasn't even made it official in his works, I feel like the reason why Benjen took the black is just so deliciously tragic for this fan of tragedies. And if all the little hints GRRM has sprinkled throughout almost 10,000 pages are true then he's created a beautiful Shakespearean conspiracy. Just wish I could even talk about those hints without spoiling things.

Jimmy Greer

Christophe, I feel like this is factually inaccurate because I'm fairly certain he's released teaser chapters of Dream. I realize I may seem like a fool for holding out hope that he'll finish his story. But when has GRRM ever given us reason to think he's a liar? He may be many things, including being the slowest writer in the history of mankind, but I've no reason to include liar as one of them. And why shouldn't we have hope? He's created one helluva story and I would LOVE to see his vision of it completed. I mean, this show is a pretty good attempt at his vision but it still falls short. Even if they did like 15 seasons of the show they wouldn't be able to show us EVERYTHING he's written about. I mean, we're about to get an 11th season of Game of Thrones content across 3 different series and we're not even 1/4 through the history GRRM has written for his world.

I am really looking forward to this with you both. I would say that maybe having a mod for this particular show would be super beneficial just in terms of helping to keep up with things without needing to use the internet to understand (because spoilers) and also to keep an eye on the comment sections because of the need people have to repeat their feelings about the show's end to any and all who may hear or see it all of the time, no matter how much it may cloud the viewer's own first time experience of the show (and also spoilers). Just something to think about!

Jeff K.

No kidding. I've watched the series multiple times, and I still have to jog my memory with the ol' Google machine now and then just to remember some of the relationships.

Jeff K.

You guys recognize the "deserter" that Ned Stark beheads at the start of the episode? He's one of the three guys who's always hanging out in the pub on Ted Lasso.

Selkirk57

This is a long series. I hope that you put out more than one episode a week.

Chris Bruneau

A&M; just for help, I added a NO spoilers--GOT family tree guide on the community chat-- I think it will be very helpful for new viewers such as you two. Excited to watch this series with you, and once again, if you ever find the time, read the books (they are fantastic)

Chris Bruneau

I put a chart in the community chat, hope it helps!

Diegesis

We plan on it!!! We did this after work so it's just a late day! Can't get a lot of shows in lol

Diegesis

We will do multiple a week this was just after getting off from work so it was really late and we worked all day but we wanted to at least start!

Diegesis

LMAO I feel like we had a pretty good understanding?

Diegesis

I created the community chat on here for just that really hoping to chat and guide with all of you!

Jeff K.

@Diegesis I honestly feel like you guys got a better initial understanding of this first episode than I did when I first watched it. Granted, the first time I watched it I was getting drunk with my brother, but either way.

☆kat☆

Awesome. So excited. I can already tell it's gonna be a journey lol see yall there 😘

Tom Fehr

don't stress about getting all the characters down right away, it'll come with time, obviously it's a lot to be thrown at ya at first. Super excited you're starting this journey!

Jon Snow’s Mange

i recommend reading the books after you finish the series. a million times better but the first 4 seasons of the show are phenomenal

Elesh

This awesome. Can't wait to get weekly GOT and BCS reactions when you are done with BrBa!

Elesh

That is awesome cause going through episode a week it would take you guys over 2 months per season which is crazy.

MamaSeesa

I would take notes and get a map. And my favorite period show is Outlander.

Joe Blankenship

Ted Lasso AND Game of Thrones? I picked a good time to jump on the Patreon. Can't wait to finish Breaking Bad too.

Arianna

I LOVED THE BOOKS 📖 Jamie 🤤 Also one of the best disgusting villains of all time

MamaSeesa

My oldest daughter is Brianna, nickname Bree. I was reading the books when I was pregnant with her lol. Plus she was born on my brother Brian's birthday. She's almost 17 and I'm going to start introducing her to it all this fall.

Demented Avenger

interested in hearing your perspective on book changes

Chris Bruneau

I must have missed it when you said the you read the Books, you will still get a TON of enjoyment from the series, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on Tyrion and Littlefinger (IMO, two of the best written characters)

AndyB

Chad, are you going to be uploading Breaking Bad reaction today? Need to know if I should order food :D

Diegesis

I will ask him but I think he should be! - Maple

AndyB

Thank you!

cat named toebean

AAYYYYYYYYY YEEESSSSSS it’s more of a selfish wish so I have more stuff to watch after work😫

cat named toebean

Since ABC Family usually ran Harry Potter at the 25 Days of Christmas what if you guys did the Harry Potter Series watch through for Christmas this year??? (those movies are wonderful and Arianna deserves to reference them constantly)

cat named toebean

Probably gonna be kicked outta the patreon for answering every question they ask in the moment but it’s candle wax that’s dripping down the columns, a fantastic touch since they largely use candle light and fire light indoors

cat named toebean

The nudity in this can definitely be offputting but most of it is very purposeful, it can get gratuitous but a lot of it has a lot of meaning. Like with Tyrion, it’s more of a realistic scenario, like women are going to be naked when they’re being paid for sex, and then with Daenerys it’s to show Viserys is basically seeing his sister as a horse for sale and how he’s inspecting her for any flaws that might ruin his sale. But it’s definitely understandable being put off by it!

Andrew Clifton

Maple saying she wishes she had a shred of what Danny has is wild lol. Danny is undoubtedly beautiful but imo but Maple, the both of you are stunningly beautiful women. 🖤

Nick

I'm curious how your friendship/relationship was formed because you guys certainly forget about the age gap like 100% of the time haha

Katieee120

This is going to be a food ride! Btw since you've watched Arcane thought I'd let you know that the voice actor for Victor is the same person that plays Viserys. Dany's Brother.

Joe Blankenship

Please do charts and stuff on a whiteboard. That'd be fun. When I watched this the first time, it was tough keeping up with all the character names. I was always jumping online to remember who this and that were. And they get a lot of storylines going at the same time too. So charting it out could be helpful.

Paul Walker

Can we try to take it easy on Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon)? Critique the character to your hearts delight but commenting on his chin is a negative comment on the person portraying the character as well. The poor lad has been through enough.

TR96

How come there is no audio on the reactions? I follow many other patreons that have reacted to GoT with audio and it works just fine

Tall Paul

I think both approaches are ok. I marginally prefer no audio on watch alongs. slightly more forgiving on syncing and allows me to adjust volume

dadpose

YouTube versions coming soon?

Tommy Megaffin

I've been watching a lot of your movie reactions on youtube and enjoying them a lot, so as a huge Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire nerd I had to get over here and subscribe for those juicy full length watchalongs as soon as I saw the edited first episode on your channel. So excited that you already have up to 2x4 on here. Let the binge begin! (my third time rewatching GoT in the last year probably lol...)

Jonathan Blaze

**SPOILER** ---I didn't notice at first that Ned Stark kills basically an innocent man who really did not deserve to be beheaded. And at the end of the season the same thing happens to him, with the same sword no less. That's karma baby.

ok

Last 4 seasons is a bit of a stretch. At best it's just 7 and 8. And primarily just 8, I'm a bit more lenient on 7 although I find it's not without it's criticism.

Kevin Landon

I never read GOT but i felt the same way about Harry Potter! I wonder if Arianna read Cirque Du Freak(they absolutley BUTCHERED the movie worse than Avatar) or Demonata(best young adult series ive read) or Everworld(another crazy young adult sci-fi)
