Squid Game 1x6 Watch Along

Comments

ZitherManifesto

I was waiting for these last episodes—great reaction and what a rough one for you two.

Walid

I see Episode 7 Full Length Reaction is also out but it's only available for the Early Access Tier. Is that a mistake or is it something new I'm not aware of?

Pooofy

I cried for hours the first time I watched this episode

Eric Wallace

I know the English is there occasionally but the writing is so so much better with the subtitles

Diegesis

oops thats on me lemme fix it ~ chad.

Ludus Aurea

The weird thing is these aren't even the original subtitles. Netflix has changed them since 2021. But they're still good.

Chris Bruneau

This is hard watch. Really illustrates the "kill or be killed" mentality at its most harshest

Richard Z Herrera

I'm just here to watch the ladies be emotionally broken like the rest of us were

MabelandMargaret

These are the English CC subs. They match the dub script rather than the actual subtitle/translation. Lots of people have said it in the comments a bunch but I don't think they're seeing it.

Oh no Sangwoo lost. It was Ali's turn and they both knew Sangwoo only had 1 marble left. That game was over that is why he made that decision to steal the marbles. It wasnt cool but he played a new game to get all the marbles because otherwise he was dead and he was not willing to die in the moment.

Number16

It sucks but this is not a game about morals: It is a game where you either win or die. Ali should of kept playing since the rules were very clear and he is not only fighting for himself but also his family. Sang-woo did what i would believe most people if put in that position would do. It is not a game where people go home with a pat on the back, they get shot in the head.

Jonathan Blaze

They really got you with 001. He's such a wonderful person to shed tears over. This is the episode that would wreck all the reactors on YouTube.

Xavier Chandler

I disagree w/the end comments. While I don't condone hoe tactics, I can't fault man for fearing his own end. Anything done in pursuit of self-preservation is understandable, and once you give up your right to live, which they did when they signed up if not before, game is game 😤

Xavier Chandler

Arianna: How could you sleep at night? Song Woo: Debt free and by my family.

Xavier Chandler

Y lie about being bad, because I'm being bad duh 😂

Christophe

I watched the first 5 episodes with you pretty quickly but had to make some special time to rewatch this particular one. I knew it would wreck me again. And I'll take some time before episode 7 too. Have to recover first. As to Sang-woo, you apparently caught on more quickly to him than I did but I still don't think at this point that he's "evil", whatever that means. It obviously pains him to a great deal to do what he did. It's obviously not good what he did (and it was the action that made it clear to me who he truly was) but it's also kind of understandable? Maybe? I dunno. When you say "if you're going to be bad, just be bad", it's not that easy. He isn't like Deok-Su, just easily able to discard Ali. It's painful for him even as he thinks it's the rational thing to do.

Tricking them into choosing someone they trust/like to kill... gotta be the cruelest "game" in this show.

Andreas Bygdeson

456 tricking an old man with dementia. Shrug no comment. Sangwoo 100% dead and did whatever it took to get out alive. "Literally the most evil person in the world."

Zynthio

Yes Gi-hun did do that, but at least he showed he had remorse and shame for it. And the old man forgave him and they hugged it out

Zynthio

It is scummy what Sangwoo did, but in all fairness—they made it pretty clear that he was never really friends with ANY of them. Not Ali, or even Gi-hun. He knew what the Dalgona game was before it started and he let all of them pick the harder shapes, he was fully prepared to let all of them die, even Gi-hun. He wasn't really friends with Ali, he was just using each of them as it best suited him. Its easy to judge him as a spectator, but the reality is the vast majority of the players aren't innocent. Ali isn't a harmless innocent man either - we watched him shove a guy into an industrial machine that could have killed him for a small packet of cash... And no, just because it was to support his wife and baby doesn't make that excusable, just desperate. If Sangwoo hadn't pulled his trick, Ali would have also just let him lose and get killed. There is no defense for how that is any less bad or scummy. If you choose to play and cause another to die, then you participated in their killing. They all had a hand in killing 10 other people in the tug of war game. They could have chosen NOT TO PLAY, but they didn't. They played and killed the other team. For someone to be completely innocent, they would have to not participate at all and let the guards kill them. I'm not defending Sangwoo, just pointing out that what he did was technically fair in the eyes of the game. He tricked Ali out of his marbles, in what was honestly a very obvious trick. And in his eyes he was just playing to win, and Ali was just another opponent. Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong were probably the only ones in this round of the game that didn't do anything scummy or hateful. Talking things out for 30 minutes, agreeing to just put it all on the line for one marble throw. And accepting their reality. The old man too, he recognized gi-hun's desperation and that while he may have made some terrible decisions and isn't always good, there's at least still some kindness and humanity left in him. So he let him win.
