The Last of Us 2x5 | Watch Along

Pretty much yelling your tragic backstory to someone three paces behind you while walking through a silent street in the middle of a town torn apart by a civil war between a vicious militia and a crazy cult, either of whose members could easily be lurking off to the side ready and willing to pounce on two strangers who have already killed some of their troops. Yet more genius writing from the man who put the “mazin” in amazing, Mr Craig Mazin.

Glad you asked about the game, during the torture part… they make you press the button 3 times to torture Nora with the pipe. And the story is the story, the only optional parts are during gameplay portions how you navigate through enemies and such but each character has their own non-optional arc and you can’t change it. I think it’s great because it’s not how some of us would respond to circumstances but how the character would respond. It’s a masterpiece of an emotional rollercoaster IMHO.

I think we're running into another Walt situation, I get that some of the plot or character choices baffle you and/or annoy you but guys could you try not to talk over entire scenes or sometimes even dialogue. I think it's better both for you and the viewers to first consume the episode and discuss it during the episode's b-rolls or post episode discussion. Looking forward to next reactions! <3

So spores were always a part of the world but since Pedro was playing the Mandalorian when season 1 was being filmed they didn't want him to have to wear a mask during this role too (for certain parts) so they just eliminated the existence of spores in season 1. But spores being the way Nora gets infected was such a core part of the game and that scene didn't require Bella to wear a mask because Ellie is immune, they decided to bring them back as a "mutation" that only early infecteds had.

Yeah that's what I don't get about the show, most dialogue in the game was done either through whisper or at safe locations like theatre. But they're just strolling through war torn city yapping their mouths off.

Athasin

Why they don't go back after finding out Dina is pregnant actually makes sense in the game because in the game Tommy actually left before Ellie & Dina, and Maria actually sent Ellie & Dina to go after him. So in the game going to Seattle isn't just about trying to find Abby, it's also about trying to find and link up with Tommy. Leaving would've meant abandoning him. But since the show changed that, Ellie & Dina just seem reckless. The showrunners even doubles down on this re-characterization because in the game, Jesse ends up (recklessly) following Ellie & Dina by himself, and he's the one who gets into trouble that Ellie ends up saving him from. The show completely reverses who saves who to further highlight Ellie & Dina as the reckless ones.

Excellent lobster claw hand work.

Eh...not really. The press triangle for extra dialogue options weren't always whispers and they did happen while you were just traversing the level. There are even scenes where they're just yapping but then hear an enemy shout to one another so then they be quiet and take cover.

I think its kinda crazy that the girls are essentially saying that someone could beat their loved ones brains in while they are pinned down and forced to watch and they would just be like "ehhh, live and let live".

Zane Platt

Dumb comment. In the game, they are constantly talking out loud to each other (I am literally playing through it again). Tired of people pretending the show is written poorly because they are stupid

Too bad you guys missed the best part of Noras speech. What a cold ass bitch.

Christen

Do you even remember how many cues the game gives you to let you know you're not currently in danger of initiating a fight or being seen by something? Music changes, character movement changes. Character dialogue indicates the end of an engagement with enemies. This is just ridiculous nitpicky criticism that has nothing to do with the quality of the story or the writing.

It's funny how some reactors are completely silent during long stretches of zero dialogue in a show/movie. But often talk and talk and talk during times characters are talking in the show/movie.

Ladies the story (the 2nd game) revolves around revenge from both Ellie and Abby’s POV. That is the story.
