ZitherManifesto

just a FYI if you pay attention to the opening credits. Its Bloodlines connecting families

ZitherManifesto

and yes this show time jumps quite a bit. Even when they have to change out some actors and actresses to age them up

Walid

Brace yourselves for time jumps in this first season!

Christophe

While I don't like them not paying attention to the opening, it's quite impossible to follow what's going on if you don't have a chart of the family tree lying right next to you. I don't love the way they did that opening, I think the map in GoT was much clearer.

Christophe

I love that you enjoy the politics of this so much, it truly is what made the whole franchise so great to begin with and honestly, GoT rarely did the books justice in that regard beyond like season 1. But you're right, because it's more focused on one family and its dynamics, and on the threat of a civil war, in a way it's kind of more intriguing than the epic, world-spanning (or at least continent-spanning) conflict of GoT. What's important to remember is that the book this is based on is very different, much more limited actually. It's written like a history book with very little to none of this personal drama, the writers had to make up much more than in GoT, the show just basically follows the major plot beats of the story in the book (which is all the book is, really) but makes up everything in between. For instance, Viserys is a much less interesting character in the book. He's kind of just described as jolly and enjoying his feasts and not caring much for politics, kind of like a proto-Robert Baratheon. But the show writers and Paddy Considine give him so much more depth, it's great.

ZitherManifesto

You are correct but still it's nice to know

Sam Rogers

the targerian family tree is a circle!

chris watt

it makes me so happy to see them enjoy it. Also, youd be surprised about the dragon sizes as compared to GOT. Id share a chart but i dont want to give spoilers.

chris watt

viserys is probably one of my favorite characters. Though he is flawed he always tried to do what he thought was right. I really enjoyed what paddy and the writers did with him

Jacob Livingston

Omg I’m so excited that yall love this show as much as I do!! And the fact yall caught on to Otto’s bullshit immediately! So many reactors who I watched react to this show and did not notice Otto’s intentions early on. We need 2 a week! lol

Athasin

I love how excited you guys are at all the politics and intrigue. Reminds me of my first watch through. House of the Dragon was definitely a great palette cleanser after the ending of Game of Thrones.

WEEZY

Bruh, need more episodes! Lmao. Love the content.

CK12341

Daemon is such a smarmy asshole,, but I can't help but to love it. Hes just fun to watch lol

CK12341

Also, to be fair, Im not gonna blame Viserys for being upset about Rhaenyra leaving to Dragonstone. They're both right. She was able to do it better than anyone, but she is also his only heir, and most of the time, man or woman, they would not be allowed to put their lives at risk. And Rhaenyra going to side with Daemon and Corlys at this very moment would not work, unless her goal is no longer about ruling. Daemon is the one who would assume that role. She currently doesn't have the bargaining power to have Daemon or Corlys agree to her taking over.

Ryley

Matt Smith as a heel is not something I expected to be a highlight.

PlasteredPear

Lord Corlys Velaryon, also known as The Sea Snake, his nickname comes from his ship called Sea Snake which Lord Corlys built himself and then made his famous Nine Voyages across the known world, he was the first Westerosi to reach Asshai which is the the scary place the Lady Melisandre was from. for a short time he made House Velaryon the richest House in Westeros.

Domo

Viserys is far from dumb. He has kept peace for 70 years i wouldn’t call that dumb

Travis

Man I'm so glad you guys are enjoying this so far!

Dani

the way this show is already gagging you LOL i'm loving these reactions

Lucas

So gald you are enjoying it....HOTD definitely had some of what I loved most about GOT when it was at the height of its power which was intense mirky and juicy Political intrigue mixed in with subdued fantasy elements; I always attached more to that than the Ice Zombie stuff....And yea it only gets more and more interesting to the point of being a real royal family soap opera just you wait...Only so disappointed we only get one episode a week frankly :(

Joshua Luzania

Daemon is my favorite character by far. I like season one better than two, but I think both seasons have interesting things about them. And yes there will be time jumps, but they are usually explained pretty quickly. Like multiple times in this episode, they said it's been half a year or whatever since Emma passed.

Jonathan Blaze

Things would have been so different if Viserys had married Leana instead. Wow.

MabelandMargaret

Right? After season 8 I went into this show fully expecting to hate it and especially Daemon but Matt ended up making him so fun to watch. The chuckle and "Very good" to Ser Crispy cracks me up every time.

Jon Snow’s Mange

In, I think, season 3, Rhaenyra is spoken about by Joffrey. It’s always a fun thing to realize on GoT rewatches.

MabelandMargaret

Jaherys ruled over a peaceful reign for "nearly 60 years" as stated in the first episode. By the first introduction of rhanerya Viserys has been king for 15-17 years, as Aemma was pregnant with her when he was chosen to be king.

DTGstl314

I'm pretty certain Viserys is not in his 90s, which he would be if he had kept peace in the realm for 70 years.

Justin Dodge

Episode 1; Ariana "I love the drama!" Episode 2; Ariana "I can't stand the drama!"

BigAL96_

Richard Z Herrera
