Game of Thrones 8×06 “The Iron Throne” | First Time Reaction

Patreon for Watch Alongs and Early Access: https://www.patreon.com/diegesisTV The saga ends—and the weight of power fractures souls and kingdoms. Jon and Tyrion wander through the ash-blanketed ruins of King’s Landing, carrying grief and impossible decisions, while Tyrion uncovers the broken bodies of Jaime and Cersei in the wreckage, Jon intervenes as Grey Worm readies himself to execute surrendering Lannister soldiers—tension hanging in the air until Tyrion’s political maneuvering diffuses the moment. In the throne room, Daenerys outlines her warped vision of freedom—"liberating the entire world"—even as Jon and Tyrion realize they must act. Tyrion resigns as Hand, and Jon’s impossible choice is clear. In a heartbreakingly intimate moment, he stabs Daenerys, and Drogon’s grief manifests in destruction as he melts the Iron Throne with dragonfire. At the Dragonpit council, Westeros reimagines its future: Bran is chosen king, Sansa declares independence for the North, Tyrion serves as Hand, Jon is exiled to the Night's Watch, and Arya sails west. (Brienne, Bronn, Davos, Sam are appointed to Bran’s new Small Council. Ariana just spoke for all of us: "GET F'ED!" I may actually watch the full watch along as a form of cathartic release! 😂

So Bran planned for this the minute he was back at Winterfell. The second he gave Arya the dagger everything was set in motion for him to become King. That’s why he wouldn’t take the Lord of Winterfell title - he knew he’d get (and to a lesser extent wanted) the throne. Just look at his reaction when Arya decides to take the dagger. It was in his face. I absolutely hate this choice and in making it, they’ve made me hate Bran as a character because it turned him from being above the throne to just another person vying for it.

Once they ran out of George’s material, it showed immediately

Bran being King only makes sense if you read the books, the lore, the backstories, all of it. The theory of Bloodraven putting all of these events in order so he could be king makes so much sense. Basically, that really isn't Bran. He's gone. Bloodraven lives. In the show, it makes no sense. Even worse with Tyrion being the one who suggests it. Also, "we just witnessed the end of the dothraki" and yet...

I truly believed while watching the show that Bran was actually also the Night King. I expected Bran to go back to the moment the Night King was created and try to control him like he controlled Hodor, only to get stuck. Thus, when the battle with the dead finally occurred, it would be Jon fighting his brother to a sense, as killing the Night King would kill Bran. I think that would have brought a lot more emotion to the final season. But agreed, the final season was massively disappointing.
