Now that you guys are done, I just want to say what i always wanted to say when you first started this series: It's clear that season 2 was just a filler season. And at least you only have to wait a year to see what happens next. Unless live watchers are starting year 2 of our wait.

Helaena Targaryen is the same as a greenseer, but that's the name of it in the north; in the Targaryen blood, they believe, called Dragonseers. Brain Stark was a greenseer why he became the three-eyed raven; however, he was also a warg, which allows him to take control of an animal. Also Deamon did not become a seer he was just shown Aegon dream.

im sad its over but i really enjoyed this year plus journey through GOT with you guys

I don't know how you can call it a filler season. It was slow and they obviously cut episodes and time due to reasons but SO MUCH happened. This narrative is so weird to me.

Unfortunately HBO cut production from the expected 10 episodes to only 8 which explains the anti-climactic end to this season. But it's not just that, the whole crew was thrown for a loop and the writing overall suffered. *sigh* That's HBO under Zaslav for us I also think it's important to note that this season was filmed during the writer's strike which meant no adjustments on set. Those are the reasons why i give it more grace than others who have been very critical, there are some extenuating circumstances

Definitely the show got a little thrown off by HBO's decision to only have 8 episodes this season (this feels like a great Episode 8 of a ten season show lol). But next season seems like it will almost have too many big events. Hopefully the pacing isn't TOO fast.

2026-09-05 05:00 thank baby jesus this is over. this show sucks, make all the excuses you want. wish I could go back to when rhaenyra was a girl and end it there. she was so much more compelling then. not the splitting image of her father that she is now.

a ton happened? as well as character development and incredible set up for the rest of the show

As a HoTD season 2 defender I feel vindicated that y’all enjoyed it as much as I did. It may be a “filler” season but I think the character moments are worth the lack of action. Excited for season 3 🙏🏾

rebelgmg

haelenas has dragon dreams like what viserys told rhaenyra about. she sees the future, even from a kid she spoke in riddles because the future has been shown to her that way, kinda why nobody understood her or ignored her. but all her riddles came true

You guys won't have to wait long either before returning to westeros. "A knight of the seven kingdoms" is set to premiere with 6 episodes in January!

Travis

We got edged so hard lmao. It's not the usually bloody finale but I do really like how this episode set the table for what should be an action packed season 3. Can't wait to enjoy it with you guys!

Travis

If you hate this show so much why are you here watching a reaction to it and commenting on it? Why not just pass over these episodes and watch their other shows and movies lol

Oliver

Yea but you still watch what you're interested in / enjoy, unless you have too much time on your hands

What sucks though, is what you'd said about the bloody final, they were supposed to have the Battle for The Gullet (several major implications come from its conclusion) but they cut it for "pacing issues" (official line from WB), but from what I read it was because they screwed up the budget because of the writers/actors strikes at the time, so S3 will now open up with plot threads that should have been laces up in Ep.9/10 of this season.

PurportedGrey

Well what's funny, is the decision to shorten it was because of pacing issues and not wanting any filler this season (their own words), but now they are gonna have to have like 4 or 5 battles, and several other key events to hit that ending with S4 mark they keep saying its gonna end at.

PurportedGrey

The pacing issues and complaints about “filler” come down to the fact that the show has been stuck in a loop all season. Characters like Rhaenyra, Jace, and Daemon do develop, but their arcs are drawn out far longer than necessary. Instead of pushing the story forward, the show spins its wheels, stretching out plotlines that could have been resolved in a much shorter timeframe. It's frustrating, especially when the series is supposed to be expanding the lore, not compressing it even more than the in-universe history books already do. Take The Burning Mill, for example. In the show, it's portrayed as a petty squabble between houses. But in the books, it's the start of something much bigger: a serious confrontation between House Blackwood, House Mallister, and other minor Black-aligned Riverlords, as they try to stop the first Green incursions into the Riverlands, led by House Bracken and supported by House Lannister. This was a prime opportunity to show the rising stakes and the early chaos of the war. They also skipped the introduction of Bloody Ben and his counterattack on Stonehelm, as well as his guerrilla war against the Green Riverlords and Lannisters. These storylines would have added depth and urgency, especially in showing how Daemon gradually pulls together the scattered Black forces. Instead, we get Daemon tripping out for half the season. Sure, some of that is visually interesting and thematically relevant, but by the third or fourth time, it starts to feel like a bit from a comedy sketch, repetitive and unnecessary. Also, by the time Daemon reaches Harrenhal, the Reach has already seen its first battle. Why not show The Honeywine around this point to remind us that the war is unfolding in multiple regions, not just in Rhaenyra’s/Aegon's court or in Daemon’s head? Now, with HBO cutting two episodes from the season, the pacing of Season 3 is going to be breakneck. The Battle of the Gullet should have been the Act 1 climax of the war (Ep.9/10 of this season). It’s a major turning point with huge consequences. But instead of being able to breathe and sit with those consequences, like we did with the Red Wedding or Blood and Cheese, and several other key events, we’re likely going to be immediately thrown into the next major event, whether it’s The Honeywine, the Storming of King’s Landing, or whatever battles they decide to rearrange in the Riverlands to give Daemon more screen time, those are 3 major events that need to happen next that will have major consequences too, they better have a bigger budget because they are gonna need to show somethings or its gonna get boring seeing people just talk about these cool future events all the time instead of giving us glimpses or straight up showing us these history defining events. If they’re not going to show every battle, fine, but at least show the ripple effects. Let us feel the weight of these events. Right now, it feels like we’re jumping from scene to scene with no sense of continuity or fallout (outside of Rhaenys and Aegon of course). For example, in the books, Bloody Benjicot’s father dies at the Burning Mill, and that loss drives him to become one of the most compelling characters in The Dance part of Fire & Blood. None of that emotional setup or character motivation is coming through this season, especially when compared to Season 1 or the early seasons of Game of Thrones, where even offscreen events had weight and impact.
