When the Dr mutters "Doh" - that's because the actor is Dan Castellaneta, the voice actor for Homer. :) (also Grampa Simpson, Krusty the Clown, Mayor Quimby, countless others)

Patrick Flanagan

The bit about "22 units cut back to 18 units" refers to Fox cutting the season's episode order from 22 to 18 because of poor ratings. George Sr.'s video in camo and a turban refers to a video issued by a similarly-dressed Osama bin Laden (still in hiding when this was broadcast). Tony Wonder's DVD titles "Use Your Illusion/Use Your Illusion II" were already used by Guns n' Roses for their double album in 1991. Michael's new doctor is played by Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson, which is why he says "D'oh." The dramatic zoom on Franklin's face in the limo is one of my absolute favorite jokes from this series.

Patrick

Thank you for saving me the trouble, was just about to mention that!

Patrick

FRANKLIN IS HERE EVERYONE.

‘Meet the Veals’ may be in the top 5 in all sitcom history for being the most unhinged. The introduction of Franklin the puppet cannot be adequately described, it must be experienced.

Patrick

This might be my favourite episode.

Franklin! Also, the cameraperson being visible is something that wouldn't have been there on the broadcast version, because that would have been in the part of the picture that typically doesn't show up on televisions. It doesn't hold true when you're watching it on a computer screen, so there are lots of fun moments in older TV shows where you can see occasional boom mics, camera people, and all sorts of good stuff.

Marcus Cato

The close up shot of Franklin might be my all-time favorite moment in Areested Development. The way we've seen the close-up anxiety shot a million times before, and the way they set it up with the reaction shots of Gob and George Sr. Too good. And Buster (as Franklin) calling Lucille "ya freak bitch!" Too much. 😂

Marcus Cato

Agreed. Might just be the number one episode. Lots of great moments but mostly because of Franklin!

Joe Stüll

I wasn’t ready to hear what he had to say.

I like these fun facts
