Exactly what I need after the crummiest of crummy days

Dr. Lecter

"Dad's going to be crushed; you don't have to tell him" is one of my favorite exchanges in the whole series.

That one's right up there with the season 1 exchange, after GOB buys a boat: Michael (to GOB): "Get rid of the Seaward!" Lucille (to Michael): "I'll leave when I'm ready."

The second time narrator Ron Howard refers to himself (final line of episode 17): "And *that's* how you narrate a story." The previous time was S01:E11 Public Relations, when Jessie, the PR consultant Michael hires, derisively refers to George Michael as "Opie." Narrator: Jessie had gone too far, and she had best watch her mouth. Howard, before his brilliant career as a director and producer, before Richie Cunningham in Happy Days, before his movie career, played Opie Taylor in 240+ episodes of The Andy Griffith Show between 1960-1968 (from the age of 5 until he was 13).

I love that Franklin gets an English accent after he turns white in the washer.

TeaRexx

My favorite day of the week, love laughing along with you both lovely ladies :D

Dustin

Lol I'm legit worried Arianna might die from laughter. Some of the sounds coming from her in the recap were hilarious haha. Wednesday one of my favorite days of the week getting to watch you two enjoy this amazing show.

Justin Linskens

Franklin turning British is literally my favorite joke in the entire show. I'm so happy Arianna appreciated it as much as I do.

Owen

You've rooo-ined the act, Gob!

Owen

My favorite thing is that you guys get to the end and just die laughing from like a cumulative joke overload hahahahahaha

Patrick

I had forgotten how much I loved this show. It's so fucking good. And you guys make rewatching them even more fun! Thanks for the first 2 seasons! I think Season 3 will not disappoint.

Patrick Flanagan

Can you BELIEVE this show was a ratings disaster when it was originally aired?!? Basically the amazing reviews from critics was the only reason Fox gave it 3 seasons, each season shorter than the previous one. It had THE SIMPSONS as a lead-in and Fox still couldn't get people to watch it. It's just mindboggling to me... Kitty's AA sponsor is John Larroquette, most famous for the '80s sitcom NIGHT COURT but also THE JOHN LARROQUETTE SHOW, on which ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT creator Mitchell Hurwitz worked as a writer and producter. Marc Cherry, the producer whose house was picketed by Ann and George Michael, was famous at the time for his smash hit show DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, which aired Sunday nights along with ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT but on ABC instead of Fox. G.O.B.'s CD "Franklin Comes Alive!" is a reference to the 1976 live album "Frampton Comes Alive!" with a similar cover. (Presumably "Frampton Comes Alive!" didn't come with a card showing Jason Bateman's face.) The song "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" isn't a fake song, it was a hugely popular romantic ballad from the 1991 Kevin Costner movie ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES, which makes it even weirder that G.O.B. (and Franklin) were singing it about Michael.

I only recently learned that Sugarfoot wasn't just a made-up show for that scene. EDIT: and i just now realized that, in the prison montage, they're watching Soapdish, which is the movie George Senior mentioned earlier in the season, specifically saying, "At least in prison, we had knife fights, and we had movie night. And once, both. Those men did not enjoy 'Soapdish'. I think you have to know that world."
