Euphoria 1x6 | Watch Along

Rick Le Mon

No trauma dump intended, but I'm in the middle of a panic (and minor PTSD) attack, so it's nice to have something light and cheerful to watch when that clears up.

take care of yourself sir, PTSD is not fun

Freja Corbinne

I kinda wish Nate would get literally murdered. Just an absolutely irredeemable piece of shit.

One thing that makes euphoria great and to keep in mind for like the unrealistic stuff and like how Mabel like may think it’s unrealistic is that also all of this is through rues lens and she even stated she’s an unreliable narrator so I like to look at this as like how in highschool gossip will form it will start as this little rumour and then more people will know but the more people that know the more twisted and dramatized the story gets until eventually the whole school knows and like that’s how I imagine all this is being told to us since a lot of it is gossip rue heard if she isn’t in the scene

If this don’t make sense just ignore it I smoked a lot before watching this and commenting this

Woah... I just saw that Eric Dane, the actor who plays Cal Jacobs (Nate's dad), was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year and is now in a wheelchair. He's already lost the use of his right arm and his speech is now heavily slurred. That's a really rough deal - he's only 53, and it's pretty unlikely he'll live to see his 60th birthday. He is apparently going to be in S3 of Euphoria, however - he filmed his scenes earlier this summer before his condition got really bad, but apparently it was still very obvious that he was deteriorating when they were shooting. So sad. He did an Instagram post for ALS research a few months back and you can definitely hear the impact it has had on his voice. https://www.instagram.com/p/DOoI9H2AMT8/

To add to the saddens Fez actor died in real life of a drug overdose RIP Angus Cloud

I’m struggling with this show. I can appreciate that the show is really well done but just finding it to depressing. There’s so little positive that redeems all the negativity. Part of it is probably that I’m a parent myself and I strongly believe that the lack of freedom kids have these days does more harm than good. But the show is just such an extreme and sensationalized version of the teen years that it almost feels like fear-mongering to me.

The characters Rue names when she’s threatening the guy are all from the Wire. Might be a good show for you to watch in the future.

I personally enjoy the show greatly because it is one that deals with darker themes. I'm also a parent but I had a teenage life not too dissimilar from what is shown in the show. Not every single facet is the same, but a lot of it and it's comforting, in a strange way, to see my experiences manifested on screen. It's not pretty but it's real, in a lot of ways. I can appreciate why it wouldn't be comfortable for you but I find a kind of heartbreaking beauty to it and think the acting is some of the best I've seen in a while.

Add The Wire to the watchlist, right next to The Sopranos in terms of greats. Rue mentions the names in this episode
