Arrested Development 3x0-10 | Watch Along

As we get close to the end of season 3, if you plan to continue with the reboot seasons, i can't recommend enough that you do NOT watch the remix version of S4! The original cut is far superior despite the confusing continuity. For some reason when they edited down the episodes for the remix they removed a lot of the funniest bits and the result is pretty bland. Luckily the original cut is still available to watch on Netflix in the trailers section of the show.

Grateful to you for pointing that out. I never would have thought to look there. That's not exactly an intuitive way for Netflix to display that.

Marcus Cato

Another fav episode for me. And of course, another appearance from Franklin.

Patrick Flanagan

Totally agree, the original cut is a different experience, a bit of a slower burn but way, way funnier. Once everything begins to gel three or four eps in it's actually really great.

Such a bummer that nobody picked this show up back in the day. It would've been perfect on NBC's Thursday line up. And I still remember that night they played the finale. They played the last 4 episodes back to back on a Friday night. They didn't care if anybody watched it.

Patrick Flanagan

Favorite joke this week is probably this exchange: "I better tell Franklin!" "I think he means 'get Franklin.'"

They played the last four episode back-to-back on a Friday night against NBC's live broadcast of the opening of the Winter Olympics. But those of us in-the-know were watching the last four episodes of Arrested Development.

John Beard was a real News Anchor for Fox-11 News in the Los Angeles - Orange County Market. He was known to have a sense of humor so Mitch Hurwitz invited him to play a version of himself reporting the news on the show. The production team considered his bits to be so successful that they began writing additional background stories for him. The bit in SOBs, where he reports on "The Muffin Man" in a flashback while wearing a ridiculous wig, and then teases a (prescient) story about the growing popularity of the "cuppuccino" is my favorite. Beard ultimately appeared in 31 episodes of the show over 5 seasons, 15 in the original FOX seasons and 16 more in the Netflix reboot.

Franklin's t-shirt says "George Bush doesn't care about black puppets." A nod to when Kanye said that on the Katrina telethon.

Marcus Cato

I felt like I knew him from something national, because I don't live in LA but recognized him immediately. Must have seen him on YouTube maybe.

Marcus Cato

Gob: "Franklin, guess what?" I only noticed this line recently on account of so much dialogue in that scene.

I just realized the reason Michael doesn't like hearing the letters OC is because of the show The OC which was doing crazy good on Fox, unlike Arrested Development.
