2026-09-05 05:00 I fully believe that if they hadn't declared war on Paradis Island in Marley that day, Eren would have let it go. He didn't snap like this until William Tybur tried to rally the world against him. "I'll steal someone else's freedom before I let them steal mine."

Tyler

Does anyone know if they've said what their next anime would be after attack on titan ends? if it's an anime

Joe Blankenship

The Bob Odenkirk titan!! Right after the rumbling starts, and Armen, Mikasa, Jean, and Connie are talking on that roof--that first titan that comes after them is based on Bob Odenkirk.

Elesh

That is not the case but I won't spoil anything to tell you why

emmanuel akpomuje

I think you’re right. Ofc there are more details that I can’t say because they’ll spoil but I do think this was the final confirmation he needed that solidified his decision

Elesh

I think they will watch another anime to have some diverse roster of shows, but no idea what it'll be. Probably some another classic. Maybe Code Geass idk

Camden Marr

i would love code geass. vinland saga would be really good for them too i think

Kyle

let's get ready to rumble :(

windextor89 .

this is the only ending i subscribe to, ep 21. eren destroys the rest of the world and the eldians live happily ever after. cant wait to see what series they pick next.

Drift3r

Pro-Tip: Don't wear mascara when you are watching PEAK anime. It usually doesn't end well. 😄👍

Adon Delgado

Feel called out because From when Eren launched his attack on Marley to the last episode, I watched it all in one sitting. Couldn’t stop. The episodes were all gas, no brakes.

uhmaru

The thing is, Eren is only nineteen, he was raised in a military culture that equated survival and safety with extermination. He wasn’t taught that you can live with enemies, only that they need to be annihilated. I don't think he's equipped to see all of the alternatives available to him with this power

uhmaru

Whether he had already decided to commit genocide is completely separate from whether he was comfortable with it. People hype themselves up before boxing matches, but it doesn't mean they didn't already plan to fight.

Camden Marr

it’s more so eren then it is the environment he grew up in. yeah he grew up having to fight for his life, but he wasn’t taught to commit genocide. and before all that when he was 9 (i think) he killed those guys who took mikasa with no hesitation. so yeah it’s just eren lol, not the people he grew up with.

uhmaru

...the jaegerists are pro-genocide. How does Eren get a following that carries out a coup in his name if it's not cultural? So many others wouldn't be pro-genocide if it were just an Eren thing. Your point about his 9-year-old self killing misses why he did it. I can't remember if that's already been shown tho and I don't want to spoil it

Camden Marr

the jeagarists are very different from eren. they support it in order to save their homeland, but very few of them would be able to actually be the one to do it i bet. i don’t want to start a whole argument, im just saying eren wasn’t made this way because of the people around him. he always strove for freedom. this is definitely not something he was taught to do lol, its just in his nature to pursue freedom by any means necessary

uhmaru

That doesn't make them different, not in this context. Outsourcing the violence doesn’t make their ideology distinct And Eren wasn’t born with some unique, uncontrollable instinct for freedom. The show explicitly depicts him grappling with doubt and exercising restraint in earlier seasons. This resolve only appears after years of militarization

2026-09-05 05:00 Anyone reducing Eren down to a propagandized idiot is that themselves. Eren's decision to kill humanity is not about being a nationalist autocratic soldier or about a product of survivalist culture. The girls have been saying it all season, "there's no good solution". Armin is seeking the best long term solution for everyone in the world with hope backing him while Eren is seeking the best solution for a very exclusive group with reality on his side to solve the short term threats. It is the argument of "How do we incorrectly solve our problems immediately with great long term consequences VS how do we solve our problems slowly yet correctly at great short term cost". Eren is not concerned with correct, he needs results before he passes away. Armin is less concerned with immediate results and is looking to plant trees he'll never see. PS: I told y'all (and you should know by now) not to wear makeup when watching AoT. Any further use will be considered a slight against the whole commmunity

I love your ugly cries because they are like my own when I watch this show. Too many feelings!

Airwrecka McDonald

Erin's message is in the intro song. Its his message to mikasa.

Airwrecka McDonald

I kinda want haikyu something light hearted plus they use to do sports so it would be fun to hear their high school experiences with that part of life.

Tyler

same lowkey. i feel like they need something lighthearted after what they’ve been watching lately 😂

Camden Marr

i’m done arguing but erens whole thing was being free and not wanting to be trapped in a “cage” like livestock way before he even started training to become a scout edit: a big part of memories of the future is that he wasn’t brainwashed by anybody, he was this way since birth.

uhmaru

You’re misremembering, he was not this way since birth. And respectfully, you’re just taking the show at face value. Im presenting an analysis based in literary and social theory. And you’re just (incorrectly) repeating dialogue/narration from the show.

Camden Marr

would you explain to me how i’m wrong then please? i feel like it’s pretty obvious that eren has always been driven towards freedom and it’s not something that he was taught by the people he grew up with. you can say that because of the world he was born into he became this way, but it’s just incorrect to say that the scouts trained him to become this.

uhmaru

tldr: In S3E7 Eren is robbed of his freedom by Rod Reiss and begs to die. In S3E18 he admits his initial dream of freedom was replaced by hate. If his drive was actually innate, he wouldn’t need reminding or surrender so easily. -- I never said the scouts taught him to be genocidal. I said Paradis' focus on its military and its framing of the eradication of titans laid the ideological foundation for Eren's decisions. If Eren had an innate drive for freedom "at any cost," he should never need reminding, and he should resist all forms of imprisonment. - S3E7, Eren is imprisoned by Rod Reiss and doesn't resist. In fact, he renounces his dream of being free beyond the walls and begs to die - S3E18, Eren admits that his original dream has been replaced by revenge, "that was our dream since we were little, and I forgot it long ago. Avenging my mom, killing the titans, the only thoughts in my head are full of hate." Both scenes show that Eren’s motivations are shaped by his experiences, he wasn't born with them. There are many more examples.

"Finally, a host..." *host noises*

g_dep

They're cathartic

Camden Marr

i think i just misunderstood what your original comment was saying then, so i apologize for that. eren was definitely influenced by other things, but a lot of it was also just who he is as a person. thanks for pointing the stuff in season 3 out, i had forgotten about that. i feel like i have a pretty good understanding of this show, but there is still some stuff im wrong about so i apologize for that and thanks for helping clear it up.

mantis toboggan

I waited 10 years for this show to air so i could binge it and i saw it all in a week. Probably the best story experience of my life

darkchaos125

Eren isn't missing the point at all. Like he said, "before someone steals my freedom, I steal theirs first". It basically means since the whole world is trying to attack Marley and Eldians in Marley and Paradis Island are next, the only way to save Eldians from being wiped off the face of the Earth due to the fact the whole world fears Eldians (cuz they can turn into Titans), he has to wipe the entire planet first to protect the Eldians. The only thing Eren missed is the possibility of negotiating between human countries. Which is also doomed to fail.
