Arianna and Maple watch as the Bluth family’s house of cards begins to wobble in the final stretch of the Arrested Development "Fateful Consequences" remix. In “Game Board” and “Turning On Each Other,” the separate threads of the season are finally being woven into a net that’s closing in on everyone, and the family’s first instinct is—predictably—to start throwing each other under the bus.
The "Game Board" is officially set as Michael’s quest for movie signatures leads him to a series of increasingly desperate negotiations with his own relatives, while George Michael’s Fakeblock lie reaches a point where he can no longer hide it from the people he loves (or the people he’s lying to). Meanwhile, GOB’s bizarre, competitive "friendship" with Tony Wonder takes another surreal turn, proving that even a "simple" social interaction is a high-stakes magic trick in GOB’s mind. As the countdown to Cinco de Cuatro reaches its final hours, the family members begin "Turning On Each Other," with Lucille and Lucille Austero’s rivalry reaching a fever pitch and Buster’s legal troubles becoming a ticking time bomb.
Layered with the remix’s signature rapid-fire callbacks and Ron Howard's increasingly exhausted narration, these episodes highlight the absolute lack of loyalty in the Bluth DNA. Arianna and Maple are losing it over the sheer number of overlapping scams and the realization that everyone is essentially playing a game where nobody wins.
