A tragedy...

Hello, German here. Small side note: As we have seen several times in the series, the world map of AoT is the same as that of our Earth, only mirrored and turned upside down. Paradise Island is therefore located on Madagascar. Why am I bringing this up? Because I believe that Isayama (creator of AoT) did not do this for no reason. Anyone familiar with German history knows what I'm getting at: The Madagascar Plan. The Madagascar Plan was a proposal briefly considered by the Nazi regime in Germany at the beginning of World War II to deport four million European Jews to the island of Madagascar, then a French colony off the east coast of Africa. “A National Home for the Jews must be found; the best place is Madagascar. For this, France and the displaced natives should receive full compensation from Jewish funds. Once in Madagascar, or, if that island cannot be made partly available to them, in a National Home elsewhere, no Jew should be allowed outside it on pain of death. There is no other way. Hedge how you like, there is no other way.” – Arnold Leese 1938

Feels like just yesterday they were screaming "When are we gonna get to the basement?!!!"

HANGE!!! Wow. That part always wrecks me. She really went out in a blaze of glory. Then Erwin comes in, and here come more tears. Can't wait for the showdown next week!

This has been such a great, emotionally engaged reaction to AoT. I'm equal parts excited for y'all to see how the story ends and sad there won't be more, although I'm sure there's some relief on just a physical level that y'all will be spared the weekly trauma roller coaster, haha. Hange's sacrifice gets me every time, with Levi finally telling her to dedicate her heart. There's a twisted poetry to it; one commander of the Scouts led almost all of the new recruits to their deaths, and the one recruit who survived caused the death of the next commander. But I think to her credit, Hange went into her final moments with clear eyes about the cost of her decisions and about her responsibilities. A supremely cool exit, indeed.

Taking time between episodes is not just important for the viewer but me as an audience member. I was there from season 1 growing from a teenager to a college graduated adult. I tried getting my first gf into it in 2016 (too heavy for her). I tried my buddies a year after that only for them to refuse and come back to me after a year later to not only apologize but show humble appreciation. Witnessing season 4 unfold before us live week after week was the most soul crushing bonding we had in the midst of the 2020 pandemic. I 100% understand the need to just binge watch whatever is available because I've done it too much. The edging of audiences with new content is so frustrating in the moment, but it's a different experience compared to having the leisure of watching it all or even having a structured schedule for a fully completed series. There's really so much you miss in talking to friends who follow a story, watching memes on the internet, and creating/reacting to theories and deep cuts you never noticed bc the community has nothing to do but wait for the nest episode/season next week/year.

I REALLY hope you guys check out Monster by Naoki Urasawa after finishing AOT, I just recently finished it and I have to say its the only series in terms of story that can match AOT. Its a bit of a slow burn but wow, what an incredible show. AOT is probably my all time favorite media of all time, up there with LoTR and Breaking bad. Monster just took its place among them Have really enjoyed reliving AOT with you guys here on patreon :D

Not sure if you realize this but the scene between Annie and Mikasa suggests the reason why Annie wants to "stay behind" is because she is possibly pregnant with Armin's baby. Which is why Mikasa blushed and asked "When did this happen???"
