When he said he lost weight, he pretty much knew he was lying and indeed a rat lol

Interesting episode. Clearly the main through line was the superficial reading the wives made about Citizen Kane is literally what Tony is going through right now. Just sacrificing his humanity for money and power but has literally nothing else right now, and Carm's inability to see that going on in her own life. Also their attempt to be sophisticated by watching the 100 greatest movies of all time but only the be derailed in the discussion of Citizen Kane with their regular gossip. They were also pretty happy about not getting to watch Casablance, and the collective groan they put out when they find out that number three on the list was going to be The Godfather. I also like the quick back and forth where Bobby Jr. questions why he never even heard of Tony B. until now. Just some meta commentary on the show itself, because they are trying really hard to sell the audience on how Tony and Tony B. were so close they were basically brothers. Some how he wasn't even mentioned offhandedly not even to other characters until last episode.

Yea feel horrible for Adrianna but she could've easily been bailed out, she screwed herself sadly

To your last point, that is kind of true I guess, though Bobby Jr. is pretty far removed from someone like Tony B. I mean, Tony B is what, his new step-mother's cousin? And we have no reason to suspect that Janice and Tony B were ever that close, so I think it makes sense that Bobby Jr. wouldn't have heard of Tony B. Even if, obviously, they have to retcon characters like Tony B at the start of every season so it somehow makes sense why these new characters suddenly pop up.

So it was at this point with the introduction of Tony B that I started to get really confused about the whole family tree, like Tony S also calls Tony B Christopher's cousin, but Christopher is also apparently Carmela's cousin, but also Tony's nephew, like what? So I started looking into it, and I didn't find any good like complete family trees online, they were all broken up by separate families, which made understanding the whole tree very difficult. I also accidentally spoiled myself (duh, how couldn't I see that coming) by looking those up. So anyway, I apparently didn't have anything better to do, so I used familyecho.com to make like a gigantic family tree and I'm going to try and post it in the community Meme Vault chat if it allows me to upload such a large image file. It doesn't contain any true story spoilers beyond this episode but it does contain a few pictures of characters that we either haven't seen yet or like newer pictures from (known) characters but from later in the series, if that is something that would feel too spoilery to anyone. I'll also post a few explainers and caveats about how I constructed the tree if anyone's interested in that.

This would be helpful. I know most people including myself give up on it after a while. Growing up I had East Coast Italian family, and it gets confusing really fast. Anyone remotely related becomes 'cousin' or 'uncle' or 'aunt', regardless of what the relationship actually is.

I've always assumed that the story of the FBI agent's sister was BS. I assume that anyone working a CI needs to concoct a story about why they are the good guys. Saying "I just like the chase" probably doesn't generate any sympathy for the FBI. The other part about the husband feels pretty real though.

As someone who grew up part of his life in northern NJ and has a lot of family members still in NJ and NYC, using family nouns for people doesn't mean they are actual family members. Its mostly a term of endearment. They could be just close friends, or close friends of other family members. It wasn't until I was like 8 and was living in NE PA that i discovered that someone just being a friend of your dads didn't make them your uncle. Its very likely that Tony and Christopher don't share actual blood but Christopher was the son of one of Tony's fathers friends.

Christophe

To Pyt, yeah, I mean I know that, that's kind of my point. The fact that these terms are used so loosely is what makes it confusing, you never know if "cousin" is like literal 1st cousin (as Tony B and Tony S are) or if it's just distant relation of somewhat same age, or if it's not even blood relation but just some off-shoot in-law or just "friend of the family" stuff. That's why I wanted to build the tree, to actually have clarity ^^

Pyt

forgot to add this thought to my first post: I wonder if Adriana ratting out her friend and her friend's father is a gateway to her feeling more comfortable to ratting on others. She was obviously still very conflicted when she was was the superficial sophisticated movie club about what she was going through. But I wonder who she is willing to give up next.

I'd disagree since Tony B. is never mentioned until we see him on the TV in episode 1 of this season, when Janice looks excited to see him. Meanwhile we heard about Feech from Richie back in season two. How is the audience supposed to believe that Tony B. is supposed to be one of Tony's closest family members when we haven't even heard his name. I just thought it was a cool way to be like "yea we know, we mentioned it ourselves, now shut up and enjoy Steve Buscemi ."

Tony B. dressing like he's in Miami Vice because that was what was popular when he went to prison is such a good choice!

A good lie needs a but if Truth. She could be telling the truth but still be using it to manipulate her.
