The Sopranos 5x4 | Watch Along

Guillaume Guérette

Am I the only one that still have the syncing issues with Sopranos episodes?

Christophe

Well, yeah, nobody said anything changed. As far as we know, they're still in Europe or somewhere where there's a different framerate to these episodes, so the playback's a bit faster.

its still happening, evrytime

The most relatable part of this episode is when AJ sees Tony's car pull up and immediately puts on a nice polo and feigns doing chores. Hahaha I tried that trick so often growing up.

I'm not on a PC, but I find if I watch their reaction in the IOS YouTube with the playrate set at 0.95, I only have to resynch a couple of three times. Or maybe 5 max.

For me, this is the start of a weak stretch of about 4 episodes. Hope I'm not sounding hypercritical. Still my fav series of all time.

Robert Loggia, the actor that played Feech, was dealing with early onset dementia and it was a real struggle getting through scenes. So they wrote him out early. He was supposed to be the main antagonist in this season. The stuff that happens the rest of this season was supposed to be more of a slow burn and pay off in season 6. which is why so much happens in these next 9 episodes.

Christophe

Oh that makes so much sense now. I always felt that season 5 was a bit rushed and wished they had taken their time more with the arc that is unfolding now. It's why I don't love season 5 that much, there's a lot of good stuff in it but it feels like a lot of potentially interesting material is introduced only to be concluded pretty rapidly. That said, I feel like Feech as a main antagonist could have potentially been a bit boring. It's like Tony alluded to, he was basically Richie Aprile 2.0, an older cantankerous guy that came back from prison and used to be respected, but is now a bit of a has-been and is annoyed at their loss of station and to now have to serve someone younger that used to be ranked beneath them. We've seen that storyline already. I do feel bad for the actor though, that must have been difficult.

I see what you did there. Very allegorical.
