Zoolander (2001) | Watch Along

Comments

Joe Stüll

That Hansel is so hot right now.

Emptysea93

What is this, a reaction for ants?! This reaction needs to be at least 3 times bigger than this!

Joe Blankenship

I keep hoping for Bill & Ted. They need more Keanu.

f hf

I quote from this movie constantly "You can read minds?!"

toranaga

is it me or is your copy slightly sped up?

Patrick

Same. Ever so slightly.

EmDoubleYou

saaaame it's driving me nuts. Every time I get it synced it drifts 10 seconds later

Diegesis

I think our copy was watched on HBO which could be why Europen HBO tends to have a slightly faster playback speed than US for whatever reason the standard here is different than in America

Styles

Woke up salty huh

Pyt

Yea, Owen Wilson is in a lot of Wes Anderson's earlier films. From what I remember reading Owen even helped write some of Wes's earlier films. VH1 is the channel I would watch to see music videos when my dad was home because he hated MTV. Its also where I first introduced to Rupaul on "The Rupaul Show." When they are trying to turn on the computer to get the files and resort to hitting it that is a reference to the opening scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) probably Stanley Kubrick's most famous film. Maybe the Shining (1990) is a little bit more well known, but 2001 is one of those movies that you watched without watching it because of how often everything in it has been parodied, referenced, or had a homage to it.

CHRISXGAMESALOT

Its hard watching this cause it's synced weird.

Zakary gray

I also had it desync. I put the video and my copy of the film in premiere, synced the starts and has to reduce the video to 95.92% speed for a final adjusted runtime of 90 minutes. hope this helps!

Diegesis

Erm well that's not necessarily true. I imagine you did not read though the resource we provided above! Just a reminder that we have a syncing guide linked above in the comment for you that explains how to make small playback-speed adjustments if needed. That option is also available on youtube under the playback settings you can adjust it to the proper speed! Or there are browser extensions you can add! Our reaction was not intentionally sped up, but watch-alongs can sometimes drift depending on the streaming platform, region, release version, or source being used. We are in Europe they have a slightly faster frame rate here just to reiterate what was said above for you. A quick playback-speed adjustment usually resolves it.

Diegesis

wish i could pin this!! Yes it seems on HBO for being in Europe it will have this issue we can start to note when we use HBO because they seem to be the one platform that differs the most for US viewers!

Diegesis

Please read through a few of the other comments we have posted some resources and explanations!

Kevin Landon

I don't know if anybody in the comments mentioned it, but the sync is off 😜 Oh! And bring the camp channel back please!

Patrick

I found if I put the girls' YT video speed on 0.95 it seems to help a little

Erik D

The same fix works as syncing up The Sopranos reactions: get the 'YouTube Custom Speed' extension and set the YouTube video to 0.959x

Chemical Em

Everyone quoted this movie in school iconic

Alexander Ocean

One of those incredibly ridiculous movies that is funny asf, such a great reaction guys!

your local cryptid

i completely understand if they don't want to do the camp movies anymore because some of the bad movies they covered brought out some absolutely psychotic misogynists in the youtube comments, but I also miss the camp reactions sm 😭 I've shown Tammy and the T-Rex to so many people after I found out about it through diegesis

Chemical Em

How will the reactions even fit in the door?!?

Heilige Taube

paramount if u r reading this, let it be known i bought this wonderful movie when it originally came out ❤❤❤

UVHDIT

if you guys want more ben stiller movies to watch "there's something about mary" and "meet the fockers" are also good movies.

Joe Blankenship

Okay, I got it worked out. I'm way behind on Sopranos reactions so I haven't encountered this yet.

Diegesis

I think it is just HBO in general based on this because we def watched this off of HBO and we watch Sopranos on HBO too so we will be sure to try and note this in the future!

Heilige Taube

this movie holds up so well.. what a classic

Heilige Taube

Ben Stiller & Jack Black also have a great comedy called Envy

Joe Stüll

The part at the computer where they’re acting like monkeys is a reference to 2001 A Space Odyssey. Maybe a possibility for a future movie pick.

f hf

The syncing thing is unfortunate but this probably one of your best reactions.

Jean-Marc Hamel

"What is this bit?? " It's the ape scene at the start of 2001 a Space Odyssey complet with the bone..

Diegesis

the syncing guide linked in the comments should get you sorted pretty quickly and easily.

Diegesis

On sopranos where we get rid of the couch is where youll want to add this trick!

Smapdi

To be fair, Breaking Bad's comments section was worse (at least from what I remember). But, yeah, the internet can be bad enough, no need to invite further punishment on yourselves.

Smapdi

In Maple's defense, if you didn't grow up seeing him on TV, it's entirely understandable to believe that Fabio was some kind of fictional character. Same with Liberace or Carmen Sandiego.

Kevin Landon

That would be pretty awful if they stopped doing camp movies because of some unhinged comments. F the haters, carry on

PopeScooby

LOL, Are you implying Carmen Sandiego is not a fictional person?

Smapdi

No one's ever found her to prove otherwise.

JC

Does anyone have a fix for watching this not in a chrome browser? Extensions don't work with the chrome app on my tablet

Tyler Foster

If you continue down the Ben Stiller train, especially re: his filmmaking, I would love to see The Cable Guy (1996) get a watch on the channel, or for something completely different from this, his debut feature Reality Bites (1994), which is the reason Winona Ryder is in this movie -- she stars in that film. Also, for Ben's acting, I'm sure no shot at this, but I would love to see his extremely underrated turn in Zero Effect (1998), a great mystery comedy based on Sherlock Holmes, starring Bill Pullman as the Sherlock and Ben Stiller as the Watson. It was the debut of writer/director Jake Kasdan, who would go onto make the legendary Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), and is now in charge of the megablockbuster Jumanji reboot franchise. Also, worth pointing out that Maury Ballstein is played by Jerry Stiller, Ben's actual father. I believe it was his mother, Anne Meara, as the egg-throwing protester as well. For an all-time great movie with Jerry, I recommend the original Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974). (Don't watch the remake -- it's awful.)

anon456

same. watching on paramount and it's off
