Killer part is if he doesn't kill Erin then we probably never find shorties daughter

Xavier Chandler

What we won't do, we do for love. Bobby taught us that.

That baby is both retribution and redemption

Beautiful series. Really glad you two gave it a shot! Kate Winslet knocked it out of the park, so did the rest of the cast, but she really made you feel her pain. I'd recommend TASK, from the same creator--set in the same universe as MARE. SHARP OBJECTS is another mini-series with Amy Adams investigating child murders in her hometown.

I could forgive an affair. I could not forgive an incestuous relationship

This show showed me why people have been campaigning for Kate Winslet to get an Oscar for decades, wow she was phenomenal

The ending really brings the whole show's message full circle, considering Mere discovers her best friend was covering for her troubled child. Mere has been dealing with the consequences of her own troubled child and how she herself would've done anything to help him. The show isn't about what's right or wrong, it's about the complexity of parental love. At every turn: with Mere and both her kids, with Mere's grandson's addict mother, Mere's own mother, the mother who spent a year advocating for her missing daughter and Laur and her husband covering for their son as well. I also think seeing her best friend going through a similar or even worse thing is what allowed her to finally confront her own son's actions, it's genuinely the best mystery/thriller of the 2020s and more people should watch it instead of those horrible thrillers on streaming services that have nonsense plot twists just for effect.

This series really stuck with me after watching for the first time, and I always find myself coming back to it and recommending it so I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. Everyone acted so well in the show that, you're right, it did feel so real. And I also think it depicted a small town and the stuff that goes on in a small town so well, which added to the realism. There are so many story lines that weave so seamlessly, and really show all the struggles (drugs, petty crime, teen pregnancy, self harm, religion, etc.) that these communities deal with in such a personal way because everyone knows everyone. There are so many characters in this show that are truly victims of horrendous acts, and yet they are expected to just move on and live a normal life after. Such a good show.

The debate at the end of this episode is why I love this channel, and generally prefer 2 person reaction channels. I like the dialogue rather than a single monologue. Great series!

Still doing HOTD? This season is 🐉🔥🔥🔥

What an incredible show, probably one of the most perfect single seasons of a show I've ever gotten to watch. I don't think that the pipeline of affair with a woman to having sexual relations with a minor (statutory rape) really exists, so I don't think its a reasonable thing to assume that would end up happening naturally. So I wouldn't place any blame at all on Lori for what happened, to her the initial affair with Sandra seemed like something she could forgive and work towards rebuilding her and John's relationship. Also without going back to rewatch the show I don't remember it being said that John told Ryan about his first affair with Sandra, I think Lori said she sensed it by how he was acting "taking phone calls and going in the other room." And stuff like that and that's what lead to her and John separating for awhile. Maybe I misunderstood what they were saying in the post discussion but Ryan only knows about Erin because he had snooped through John's phone and that's how he found out about that affair.

Both suggestions would be great. I LOVE Sharp Objects and if they watched Task it would push me to finally start it lol

Teyon Alexander

Love this reaction! Great end discussion!

JD

...her name is in the title of the show, how can't you spell it

Michael

Just so you know a second season might be filming in 2027.

Im sorry, but Maple was unbearable in this one. So oversimplistic.
