I really enjoyed seeing both of your pov on the movie. My first watch through I didn't see it as so black and white but I definitely thought the guy was a pos, especially after knowing how crazy she was and still having sex with her. But I've seen a lot of guys do the same thing irl. That thing between dudes legs causes way too many problems. My first watch I thought he acted more out of cowardice than selfishness. You could say they are the same but as someone whose battled social anxiety I kinda understood his fear of just telling her. It's pretty crippling and you know it doesn't make sense but there's something in your head that just wont allow you to do it. After he fully realized what was going on just going straight to killing yourself is a last resort almost anybody would come to. People will exhaust most options before going that route imo. Knowing that it seemed to me he could have either had her committed or try to reduce whatever harm she could do and 'take responsibility' for her like a caretaker which is what it felt like he was trying to do. Obviously it turned out that killing himself would have caused less harm in the end but it's always easy saying that when you know how it's going to end. He did definitely act selfishly, and nikki was uber fucked over by it all. I went out of it feeling terrible for her. But it all makes for a great movie. I really enjoyed it and like seeing everyone's takes on it. Ultimately he should have paid a homeless guy $20 to make a wish that cancelled his own, but that would make for a lame movie :P

this movie is extremely disturbing. My wife absolutely hated Bear, and she thought his behavior was analogous for those guys who SA girls after drugging them, taking away their agency and ability to consent. Its F'd up--don't ever need to see this one again. also, Indie better win an academy award, holy crap she was good in this!!!

Crossing my fingers it doesn't get taken down. Other reactors I follow like the React Pack, Magic Magy, and MJ Without Spiderman had to re-edit and re-upload their Obsession reaction twice because of dumb YouTube.

The thing about him trying to cancel/re-do his wish - the shop owner wasn’t saying that he HAD to get Nikki to do it - I think it was moreso an offhand suggestion since Nikki would (theoretically) do anything for him so would be more willing to make a wish on his behalf - I think he just went to Ian first because he probably felt safer on account of Nikki killing someone in front of his eyes the night before
