I did not realize until just this moment that Chang's Sgt is Marco from Better Call Saul.

Earth kitt was the catwoman in the 1960s batman and voices ezma in the emporers new groove. Pierce mentions her as a brag as she was very attractive celebrity. She was also an amazing singer with a distinct voice, sadly she has passed

"Why is she doing that?" 😆 gotta love Britta

Ooh, two back to back classics. #3 I think is what cemented Community in the "Chaotic Neutral" square on the TV show moral alignment chart. Their love is weird! We see how the study group really only functions (as much as it ever does) as a group cause individually most of them actually can't stand each other. And immediately after, the densely packed study in how things go wrong with each one member missing from the group. And why everyone in 2026 says we're in the darkest timeline. And yeah, surely nothing can go wrong with Chang in charge of security. Dean Pelton really, really thinks the best of everyone.

I rewatched recently and definitely had that 'where do I know this guy' response. Especially triggered by his strong accent.

In case anyone is watching from a DVD set, Season 3 episodes 3 & 4 are swapped (Google said there were some issues on the original airing leading to episodes being shown out of order). So the reaction video is “Competitive Ecology” and then “Remedial Chaos Theory”.

It has begun ....

- these episodes got flipped in release order as the chaos episode needed more time - this is why they put the voice over at the beginning of 3-4 discussing if the APT # 303 is correct- a nod the original episode # and the Pierce sharing to Dr. King (in the actual ep 3-3) his experience w/Eartha Kitt - info we did not know yet. - one of they funniest cuts and line deliveries ' Clearly you don't understand anything about defeating trolls. ' hilarious

And now when people refer to us being in the worst timeline you get the reference.

This is also why Shirley makes the comment about Britta's "marijuana lighter" in episode 3x03. She sees Britta use it in episode 3x04. It's also (which you allude to) why Pierce says "I had sex with Eartha Kitt in an airplane bathroom, and these are the only people I've ever told" in 3x03 -- it's meant to be a callback to 3x04, in which Pierce takes any opportunity he can find to mention that out of nowhere. It's interesting that these two episodes in particular have such striking callbacks between them, IMO more than you'd find in most other pairs of consecutive episodes picked at random, considering their airing order was flipped. I wonder if some of the callbacks in 3x03 were written/added after they knew that the order switch was going to happen, to instead serve as "call-forwards", a little hidden joke for fans who notice. Or it could just be coincidence.

I really love the character study via absence. It was no surprise that when Jeff leaves, the group has so much fun together. I found it super interesting that Troy's presence prevents them from spiraling into total chaos.

Ben

It's Todd's fault that we're in the darkest timeline

It's around this point that Harmon is very clearly warming up for Rick & Morty lol

That actually is a real traditional Norwegian troll. There are souvenir ones exactly like that one all over museums and other culturally significant places. In my hometown growing up, there was a 10 meter tall one, hand carved in stone.

Joe Blankenship

I wonder what happened in the other timeline where those episodes played in the original order.

Troy screaming at the troll while the apartment burns is one of the funniest shots on the show.

yeah, Mel Rodriguez shows up in a ton of stuff and is always great. If you wanna see him at his peak (so far), go watch The Last Man on Earth, a great show starring Will Forte & Kristen Schaal, and is still somehow flying under the radar.
