Totally get the Ulf discussion from a team Black perspective, I will push back a tiny bit and say that "if you're royalty you're not going out" is sort of contradicted by Daemon, that's why when Ulf was talking to him he said "you yourself should understand" because Daemon was out in brothels and taverns all the time despite being the prince and heir apparent to the throne. It's also just further proof that Rhaenyra hasn't been taught how to rule. Ulf sucks, but so do lots of lords, when you're in power you have to balance that with how you can best leverage them to help you achieve your goals. Something as simple as "well we can't let you drink in the city but why don't you pick a few of your friends we can have Mysaria vet and they can drink up here with you?" would have placated him, or at the very least not made him run to Ormund instantly. Viserys's real failure is he never taught any of his children how to be king.

So this take is going to sound intense and insane, but I wrote it like two weeks ago but lmk what y’all think ! First Aegon has mental issues. He’s either bipolar or has insane executive dysfunction (ADHD), that’s not his fault, he should’ve had his mother or father care for him, but they never even looked his way. He couldn’t have real friends growing up because who’s gonna be true to you if you are one of the kings sons. he couldn’t even have a relationship or marry a girl that he formed a bond with or emphasized with him. He was forced to marry his sister and have kids. He wanted to be a good king that episode where he’s on the throne he wants to meet the demand of the people, but otto, shuts it down to support production for the war he caused. so he has no power as king he loves his son because they never loved him and brings him to the small council. Everybody is annoyed, but he seems happy to see his child happy and then they killed his child and then nobody comes to Aegon to console him, we literally see Alicent walk past when he’s crying and she doesn’t go in to console him. Then they literally use his child’s body as a power move so that the people can pity the greens, but the greens themselves don’t give an f about Aegon. He makes Criston cole hand to get back at otto but everybody sides with Otto on that scene for some reason. Aegon abuses substances (gets drunk, might need genetic(it could also be a disorder , not his fault)), also cause of trauma no f wonder. Then his brother literally killed his dragon the only thing special to him, and made him disabled physically, now he walks in pain thanks to the maester(couldn’t even die because greens save him, stretching his torture), (he’s completely alone in life btw) Larys is not keeping Aegon alive because he cares for aegon, it’s just another power move. He’s being subjected to. , and it makes me mad that in this episode people agree with Larys when he says you were a terrible king and a terrible man, this is an ego comment from Larys because he has a disability too, but his brain is intact so in his mind, he was hated by his family too, but he rose to power because of his intelligence (he’s very evil btw) so wants to see aegon with envy or just pities him or hates him because he couldn’t make anything of his situation looking down on him. Everybody hates Aegon because he lashes out, but that’s literally a sign of his mental illness and state of mind having lived through that much trauma. He seems egotistical or arrogant because he doesn’t bend the knee in the first episode because its literally the only thing that hasn’t been taken away from him is him being able to have respect for himself that’s literally the only thing he does and he kinda knows that Larys doesn’t really care about him (thats why he goes into battle after her mother ignores him and tells him to do nothing, he self medicates with alcohol, then plays with and smiles to his dragon. In order to be of use at least in battle as king). but people hate Aegon because they think it’s just ego but no, that’s literally like the most and only honorable way he would have to die, because he’s just been manipulated his whole life. But the directors don’t show him on screen as the hero but all the details of the story are there so that if we really saw him for what he is, and if the show was directed on a different way, he would look like one of the heroes of the story if he gets to redeem himself later, if not, then it’s just a tragedy of this man, but everybody hates him, which sucks PD: I dont agree with the SA of 1x7 but even the ratcatchers, every other character has killed more innocents. Like rhaenys with her dragon on 1x8 but people hate on aegon. (This is how we look at people that need mental help in real life btw) And everybody in westeros is mean af too btw, look at the guy who hires him, (he literally calls him mangleface and tangletongue to the other guy)or how riverfolk hate each other and outsiders hate them, or watch how people treat each other in knight of the seven kingdoms or watch game of thrones, aegon to me had the nicest intentions of anybody in all the shows. People don’t like him because he doesn’t show any control over himself ( sign of mental illness btw, severe adhd, he was literally complaining how he wasnt a good student but his brother was.) There’s just so many layers for this. Zero empathy from anyone. There’s so much hate just because Aegon looks incompetent and that’s why it’s so tragic Every other character is just more confident and easier to root for because they don’t have the challenges of the situation that eagons had Hopefully, in the near future, more characters with severe ADHD and mental illness are more represented by their experience so that it’s becomes easier to empathize with them because right now the world just treats them like shit No wonder he’s incompetent Oh, and his father never chose him as heir and suddenly he becomes king so he gets hope that people are gonna love him more than they’ve done in the past, but it’s control and a power move Although this season so far has been disappointing, its still a fun watch and love watching y’all react to it c:

I have to say I will always root for Rhaenyra and daemon but I am also team aegon now! His storyline this season has been incredible and the acting by tom Glenn carney has been phenomenal!!!!!
