I love how Andor brings in the casual fans or non Star Wars fans to the franchise. I hope Maple can experience more SW in the future

God I really love this channel. Yeah you're right, the opening theme is actually slightly different each episode - it's not super noticeable in the first few episodes, especially when you're watching week-to-week, but yeah, the composer Nicholas Britell wrote *so* much music for this series haha I love that y'all made the connection between Syril's mum and Livia from The Sopranos, haha. The thing I love about Syril is that he thinks he's in a completely different TV series. The prison scenes, especially in this episode, are so goddamn good, they're just so claustrophobic. Can't wait for next episode - some of the greatest moments in the series.

Next episode gonna be SOOOOOOO GUD

This is such a great show! I was just thinking, Arianna has seen the three original films, EPs IV,V,VI. (I've seen her reaction vids) But Maple is coming in totally new. So, perhaps after seasons 1,2 of Andor, the girls could watch Rogue One and then watch Star Wars, Empire, and return of the Jedi??

“Fifty shades of ISB Supervisor” 🤣 I really like your commentary, both the humorous and serious. The Empire isn’t just transferring prisoners from floor to floor. Everyone in the prison would know about it if that was happening. They’re “releasing” prisoners from the low security prison on Narkina to a high security prison on another planet. There was a bureaucratic mistake, and a “released” prisoner was returned to Narkina. They killed 100 men to try to prevent knowledge that prisoners weren’t actually being freed at the end of their sentences from spreading through the prison. They failed.

Spacedone

Recycling the prisoner to another floor in the same facility was the mistake that was made. Presumably they were meant to be sent to another prison facility elsewhere for whatever purpose the Empire had for them and everyone in Andor's facility is kept in the dark about this so they cling to the hope of eventual freedom to make them more productive workers?

"Never more than 12" gave me similar chills as "There are FOUR LIGHTS!"

Gatsbizzle

The costuming in this show is SOOOOO GOOD. Michael Wilkinson and his team (rightfully) won an Emmy for it!

Wozware

It's the legendary Andy Serkis. Gollum, Smeagol, precious.

David Perkins

also R.I.P. the greatest starship captain of all time😢

David Perkins

i know you've heard it but i can't wait for future episodes. and it's killing me that i can't say anything yet!

Tim

I think Maple recognizes him from The Batman, but isn’t placing him.

Edit: Dedra Meero is the lady ISB agent and is played by the incredible irish actress, and seemingly awesome person, Denise Gough. She also played Yennifer in The Witcher 3 if either of you have played that! The torture is much more horrifying than just different frequencies. The Torturer was saying that the Empire committed genocide on a sentient species and noticed it affected their officers who listened in on it. This freak took those recordings and modified them to be used as torture. Bix was being forced to listen to the dying sounds of an entire species, and particularly that of its children. It's insanely dark. Another edit: I don't know if it's still around but there was a hilarious clip of Syril + Dedra edited like a romcom that was going around at the time the show was airing.

It's another mark on the Empire's insane levels of arrogance and superiority that they think they can do something so obvious and the people would do nothing. It's as if there were a government in our world that propped up a system where healthcare was privatised and pharmaceutical companies were allowed to price gouge sick people for insane profits. Imagine if something like that happened, no way people would just stand for it and do nothing.

You guys are really doing a GREAT job!

MrStelmacki

So excited they’re watching Andor. Afterwards, we need to get them to watch The Expanse so they see 2 of the best sci fi shows ever.

Chris

If they ever considered doing one of these as a special live watch along, next week would be a fine choice.

scott melton

Denise Gough (Dedra) has said she got the role partially because of, what her family calls, her "down-turny mouth." She is fantastic as playing evil; and just a few eps ago we were kinda cheering her political victory at work.

Sloane Lysbeth

haha, i was waiting for that cyril/dedra scene to land.

Lys

Love the discussion at the end! I think what sets Mon up to be such an interesting character is that she’s comes from such a privileged position that she can afford to live in this black and white world where she postures herself as morally righteous against the empire but now that she has involved herself in the rebellion she’s finding that she can no longer stay in that privileged world and she must accept more and more morally gray actions that she could never see herself accepting before, all for the sake of the rebellion. And seeing her cousin kinda call her out in this episode for trying to cower away from making the decisions that Vel has already dived into making is like just another wake up call that she can no longer hide from the risk and ugliness that can take form when you’re trying to take down an oppressive regime.

J Lawrence

Andy Serkis! Gollum/Smeagol

J Lawrence

Maple you're right the intro music actually changes slightly for every episode.

Eric H

I was going to make a joke that love making between Cyril and Dedra would involve Dedra injecting her eggs down into Cyril's gullet, but this is Star Wars and some alien probably does that shit.

Drueisms

Do they not know the foreman in the prison is played by Andy Serkis, the guy that played Gollum(among other things.) One of the best performances in this show.

Hsly

It's crazy to me that the guy playing the leader figure among prisoners is the same guy that played gollum in lord of the rings. Super talent in this series.
