This episode hits hard for me, especially because it mirrors my experience. Both of my parents passed suddenly and without warning. Just having a regular day, get a phone call, and suddenly everything changes.

Apparently Lisa McGee, the writer, based this on a real event that happened to one of her friends as a teenager. It is such a wrenching, shocking turn of events, but I guess that's how it felt to her and her friends. I really liked Claire's dad as well. He didn't have much screentime, but he always seemed like a genuinely nice man and made me laugh in every scene he appeared in. Also, James should have kicked Madstab in the balls as hard as he could, to win the tickets.
